Hopefully he was just confused or something, I can’t imagine any coach accepting that kind of effort. If he’s overthinking like “am I supposed to go out in the pattern now?,” then maybe, but that ain’t it.
My coaches used to always reinforce that if you make a mistake you make it full speed… that lack of effort even in confusion doesn’t work for me

22- 1 Carson Schwesinger
I’ve been heavy on both.
OROY seems like a harder to predict lower value odds…can’t believe I actually put a free bet on Will Howard and a cash bet on Kaleb Johnson. Horrible by me.

Schwesinger has played well but Williams is off to an up and down start. My hunch is we’re still talking about someone from out of nowhere on the defensive side. Hopefully Mike Green doesn’t start a push this week in place of Van Noy. Maybe Will Johnson can get a few picks… that’s what it will take for a CB unless he’s on a team that wins a lot like Quinyon. Maybe Mukuba can benefit from that bump as well? As long as old TEs keep fumbling balls right into his hands lol (that’s what she said?)
Most of the offensive faves to me are already sort of pricey. Egbuka, Ward, Jeanty, Tyler Warren. What’s Ayomanor at? Harold Fannin cheap? He may be coming for it if they keep throwing. Jackson Hawes is the highest graded rookie and highest graded overall TE in the whole league, though it’s hard to imagine he puts up enough counting stats to win it.

I like Schwesinger… I think he can pull a Darius Leonard early 2nd round LB that puts up gaudy #s in that Cleveland defense.
Teams will be running the ball a lot on them as I assume the Browns will be down a lot most games. He should have a lot of tackles.
If he can put up some INTS and Stuffs/Sacks I think he has a good shot.
If you believe this to be true, then it’s a good idea to toss some darts at some longshot odds right now.
I just don’t want to see Abdul Carter win it. Or those dudes from ATL put up huge sack #s that will skew things.

Schwesinger’s got a shot but the Browns sucking will hurt him. They need to get pretty close to .500 for him to have a shot.
The only players to win it this century from a losing team were Sauce, Kuechly and Chase Young, but their teams were 7-10, 7-9 and 7-9 respectively. Sauce had all-time great rookie season, so good he was 1st team All-Pro. Same for Kuechly. Schwesinger has been good, but not 1st-team All Pro good.
Young won it in a down year, I think that’s Schwesinger’s best shot. But in down years they tend to default to counting stats like sacks or picks, and that probably won’t be where he thrives due to being a LB.
I DO think he’ll be one of the best rookie defenders this season for sure, I just don’t know that’s he’s in the best position to win DROY, mostly due to his team and position.
Honestly I think Mukuba has a better shot. He’s on a team everyone will watch every week, and has the potential to get a lot of picks due to the strength of their DL. Watts and Bowman have also popped off the screen for Atlanta and if they’re gonna continue this insane pressure rate, will probably get pick opportunities at a high rate as well (though they may split the vote). Will Johnson has been great too, but I suspect he’s pretty expensive.
Other guys I think have a shot: Jihaad Campbell, Shemar Stewart, Jordan Burch.
Like Schwesinger, Jamaree Caldwell, Tyleik, CJ West, Deone Walker, etc… have been very good, but don’t have a great shot at winning it due to their positions and lack of counting stats.
Also, what are Daiyan Henley’s odds for DPOY? He’s already got 2 sacks and a game-sealing interception under his belt and looks great. I think the Chargers D will be excellent this year as well.
