Roster Chart & Effective Cap heading into FA

An overview of we’re were at adding in the draft class, dead money, practice squad costs, and possible retainment of dollars for in-season for effective cap space heading into FA. Obviously Brad could keep more or less than $20m available for in-season/2026 rollover, but so far, he’s shown he’s willing to hold on to quite a bit.

Anyways, $26m is around what I see in available cap, depending on how much they choose to hold on to. Also, don’t have Pittman/Turner’s contract numbers, but it really shouldn’t have much of an effect, as whatever they are over the #51 contract is probably minimal. Also, OTC has a couple ERFA guys (Nowaske (SAM) & Niese (C/G)) already tee’d up as coming back, but I haven’t included them since it isn’t official - though definitely possible Jason has some behind the scenes info the public doesn’t.

Really good shape heading into FA, which should allow some decent moves to address roster weaknesses.

EDIT: I missed Turner. Gotta fix it. (Fixed)

Would feel really good if we could retain Zeitler & Patrick before free agency starts.

Also adding Fuller & Slay to the CB room with our youngsters there would be really nice but I’m probably asking for too much.

Dorsey&Vildor belong on the PS imo

Depth reads left to right. If there’s a tag (i.e. QB1), it’s a spot on the 53.

4 pre-Holmes-era players remain.

I have~$55m for Cap.
Estimated cap for 2025 $279.5M
Plus the 23.6m roll over.
So lions total cap is $303.10M

Cut Z Smith. (Zero dead $)
Add Tuner and pittman and Bell for league min.
Davenport and Barns at AAV.
~14.86m in dead/ void money (which may be less because Davenports void year MAY be kicked down the road)
(Sutton 6.54, Davis 3.27, JRM $2.75, Davenport 2.3m)

Ttl signed is ~$236
Top 51 is ~$233.5m

I got $54.738M in cap space for the Off Season.

And around $25m for the season (top 53 contracts plus, added dead cap from cut downs, projected practice squad and IR)

Boy I sure don’t think so, only got 3 WR , CB is very slim as is DE and DT Oline also has some questions, alot of holes in this roster. I a little concerned. Just don’t see the fixes out there for some of these issues

Yep, kinda how I see it too

I know there is a lot to do and alot of time, but gezz he seems to be low balling his players.

I’m such a bozo, didn’t even realize I didn’t estimate Barnes in. Good thing his contract details just dropped haha

UPDATE

According to OTC!
1 Barns only a 3.67m hit this year
2 Davenport ONLY 1.75!

(Interestinly they DONT have his void year on the list any more) but well see.
Also they have Carltons void year only as 1 year for $9.8m i have it for 3 at 3.27
But maybe thay will update later this week

Also they say Nowasake and Neise signed a ERFA deal.

So that brings us to 56 signed.

I also included the first 2 round draft picks as well because duh.

So that brings the est. cap space of…
$63m !!! For the off season
~$47m for in season!

Void years accelerate when the contract ends, that’s why.

Ill move that back then.

But this is my data before moving it back

Feels like a trend is forming. Of course we could all be slapassing each other and running naked through kool aid in 2 hours so I’m just sitting in my office anxious as hell and hoping. This team has a lot more deficiencies that most on here want to admit.

Holding Mel Gibson GIF

Holmes has never been in on the first wave of free agency. Don’t expect to be on a streaking high when free agency kicks off.

Looking at the roster only true downgrades over last seasons roster.

CB1 davis to Robertson
(Which means Rakestraw is now at NB)

And XWR Patrick to Green

Other than that everything else is the same or close to it.

So to me.
The Lions need to make 3 big (ish) moves
and 3 minor moves to complete this roster.

3 big moves, CB, DE, XWR.
3 minor moves TE, DLx2

Everything else is just depth/bench.

Man, no news on Zeitler ahead of noon today is the most disappointing thing.

Why? He was good.
But not great,

Mahogany held his own.
Move glasgow back to his right side where he is way better.
Mahogany at left.

Dan made it a point to mention they talked to Zeitler before the season ended, so I assume he was a priority. He fit real well. Been reading that Cincinnati is very interested in him.

I’d rather have GG as a great depth piece at C/G. Otherwise we’re real thin and it may force IOL in the draft.

But if we do go with GG at RG and Mahogs at LG, Awosika comes into play, hopefully at the vet minimum. Him or Niese I guess.

Niese is back.

Awoska is not yet

OT4, DT3 and CB2 filled.
Clearly not done, with Free Agency “officially” opening this afternoon at 4:00.
