Sad Den News-We have lost Deadstroke

Oh I’ve felt it for sure :joy:

But he’s definitely the type of poster who knows his stuff and I respect his opinion regardless.

Our Lions forum family lost a longtime member, @DeadStroke

For those who knew him here, you know he wasn’t just another poster. He was our resident salary cap guru, someone who brought a tremendous amount of knowledge to this board and was always willing to share it with the rest of us.

But what makes losing someone from a community like this so difficult is that, over the years, these usernames stop being just usernames. You become familiar with the people behind them. You look forward to their posts. You know their personalities, their passions and the things they bring to the conversation.

@DeadStroke was a part of this place. A respected part of it.

And now there’s going to be an empty spot here that can’t really be filled.

He was only 58 years old.

That’s way too young.

I know we’re all here because we love the Detroit Lions, but this community has always been about more than football. We’ve shared laughs, arguments, celebrations, frustrations, victories and heartbreaks together. And every once in a while, someone becomes such a familiar part of that community that you simply can’t imagine the place without them.

@DeadStroke was one of those people.

I hope his family knows that, even in this little corner of the internet, he made an impact. There are people here who appreciated him, respected him and will genuinely miss seeing his name pop up on the board.

Rest easy, my friend.

Thank you for being part of our Lions family, @DeadStroke.

You will be missed more than you probably ever realized.

The guy 2nd from left on the pool table picture looks very familiar.

I love you, buddy

Quality, human being

I love the way he represented himself, and how he was very respectful and honest with his energy… And the people he interacted with

I want to make sure that he isn’t just a memory, and that I continue to improve my life because of people I’ve lost. While I didn’t interact with him personally, as as much as as I did with Bols, he was a really good person. That was always good to me.

Guys, we have the opportunity, moving forward to be grateful for our lives and each each other

When I see certain personality traits of others, it causes me to be a better man

I don’t want them to be just someone that I used to know, but I want them to assist me in being a better man for other people. These guys.” helped me.”, in terms of showing up the way that I know men can show up.

They “helped me” in terms of showing up inside of my blueprint, in a way that is very aligned with me in for me. They are proof that really good human humans exist, will have your back, will trust you… Which is huge… And they will share life with you, rather than just “talking” or numbing with another human

Not just superficial bullshit, but realness

Be especially grateful for the people in your lives guys. Let go of the bullshit, fear stories, and honor each other… Love each other… Respect each other.

Be mindful of what energy you are committed to

We either get to be a victim, because it’s not fair that we lost our buddy, OR we get to recognized that we are blessed beyond Measure, because we had dudes like this in our lives

I am honored for every time either one of these cats showed up in my inbox, in my telephone, or interacted with me publicly

I’m not gonna take any of you handsome motherfuckers for granted. You guys are my growth partners, and mirror for my own love and growth… A mirror for my own kindness… And as I sit here with tears in my eyes, these dudes will make me more of a bad ass, in terms of standing up for what’s right, loving what’s sacred, and being present with the gifts that are right in front of my face… My friends

Oh… damn, I loved his writing and always looked forward to his posts. Unmatched expertise and usually willing to take the time to explain in a patient and matter of fact manner where I went wrong in my Lions finance thoughts. Just damn. Godspeed 'stroke

Who’s going to correct me now when I screw up on cap stuff?

Someone who doesn’t know nearly as much!

No for real we’ll probably just have to rely on AI at this point if we want to be on top of it as well as @DeadStroke was

Unfortunately the only information I have is what I passed on, obviously it was a sudden event and while I would have liked to have known more in the end it simply doesn’t matter. For many years he really helped those of us who cared to navigate the financial side of the cap and contracts with great accuracy so when he posted I always looked forward to reading his thoughts. Never miss a chance to tell your loved ones that you love them guys.

This is heartbreaking. I had no idea he lived so close to me—I’m only about 15 minutes from Petoskey. I truly hope this isn’t true, but the circumstances seem too coincidental.

If it is true, I’m deeply saddened. From everything I’ve read, both from people in the Den and outside of it, he was held in very high regard. People genuinely liked and respected him, and he was known for being kind, helpful, and generous with his knowledge.

I didn’t post very often, but I read the Den almost every night and always paid close attention to what he shared. His presence and contributions meant more to people—including me—than he may have realized. My heartfelt condolences go out to everyone who knew and loved him.

I just got back from a solo camping trip to Kings Canyon in Sequoia National Park to read this

I’ve been coming to this board since 98’, I’m 44, this one stings.

His knowledge of the cap was CAPitvating.

But for real.

Hi all,

Just following up that I did hear back from George’s twin brother, Mike, who confirmed the news tonight that @DeadStroke did pass away on July 24. I’ll pass along some more details once I have his blessing.
