Ugh, politicians. They sure seem to care a lot more about their local college football team than they do the humans they’re elected to serve.

so you’re saying it’s fake?

No clue haven’t looked at any of it, this was the first I’ve heard of it.

All I know is that in my lifetime , it’s more fake crimes than real crimes.

Living in times of great deception , everything is fake & lies.

And the real crimes don’t get any mainstream attention… sooo….

SEC will love this. They can go back to paying players under the table. They can’t keep up (except TX schools) with the schools paying players legally

The whole thing reads like a gift to the B1G, the SEC, and assholes like Layne Kiffin who want to hop from school to school after everyone gets tired of their shit. A $45mil “cap” on player compensation basically saves money for the major programs while still letting them outbid schools that don’t have unlimited money from the boosters.

I’m going full Grandpa Simpson yelling at the clouds on this bullshit.

I’m not in favor of the age restriction limiting players to 5 years from graduation or from age 19. I loved those stories of random 30 year old dudes who went for it.

Where there is money and power there are corrupt politicians who pretend to care.

It’s not about how much money the universities can funnel into players. That is never the issue. Because that’s not where most of the money comes from.

Most of the money comes from third-party. Private sponsors. The issue is universities working with those sponsors to pay players.

Its illegal in every major pro sports league to use third-party sponsors to pay players You just saw what happened with the LA Clippers.

The NCAA needs to do that.

But again the NCAA has no balls and no power.

The only fix for college athletics, is to have a new independent league, separate from the NCAA, for football and basketball,

Semi pro sports league sponsored by the university

The top ~64 teams in football. And the top ~128 in basketball.

Player contracts, unions collective, bargaining agreement profit-sharing the whole 9 yards.

NCAA doesnt want to do any of that because then it would cost them a lot more money. It wouldn’t be 3rd party money anymore. So they put themselves in this awkward position where they can’t enforce anything legally.

News: Sen. Ted Cruz has been adamant the House will pass his Protect College Sports Act quickly. But House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said that won’t be the case and the bill likely won’t even pass as-is.

Scalise told The Sun that there are “differences between the House and the Senate” on the legislation that will be “addressed in some amendments that will keep the focus of the bill on letting the schools govern themselves.”

“There’s some good elements in the bill, but you saw there were some other problems that a number of our chairmen of the committees of jurisdiction in the House have with that bill, that would need to be fixed,” Scalise said.
