This is a great thread! I love looking at everyone’s dogs! Thanks for sharing all the pics everyone!
I love dogs. My oldest has an alaskan malmute (and then moved to florida, the perfect spot for those kinds of dogs
)
she is the friendliest sweetest dog I have ever been around in my life. it’s quite stunning how good she is.
I would get a dog but we’re gone all day and that’s not fair to the dog. our cat probably prefers it ![]()
but I love corgis and would get a horgi if I could.
the oldests dog:
No. Not a fan of pure breeds or subsidizing dog breeders.
Too many great dogs are killed every day in every city. I would put out a request for Bernese type dogs on the adopt or kill list.
My son has a F1 bernie doodle, 8 months old, and he’s already pretty big. Loves, loves loves, the snow. Infectious, lovable personality. My 5 and 6 year old grandsons love him. So yeah, they’re great.
Nothing like a dog to turn a tough ass dude into a puddle of piss.
Hate to know who was the pitcher vs catcher in that get together lol! Dachshunds have the unique ability to stare into your very soul to get you to give them whatever they want. I am powerless against this….
Here is Kirby. 25% Aussie Cattle Dog, 25% Chow Chow. The other 50% is a mix of everything. Basically, a Mutt. He is a rescue, found with 18 other dogs in a back yard of Mesa. His owner was shooting up his neighbor’s house, the Sherrif went to investigate and found the Dogs. One of the best dogs I have ever had.
Bernese do shed, so start looking for a new vacuum…lol
BEST $50 ever spent.
She was in a shelter and we went to “look” for fun. Walked down the aisle and my wife stopped and looked at her and she greeted her with vocalizations. Wife’s heart melted, 7 years later we still have a dog. ![]()

And keep a drool towel handy….
You’re lucky! A Cattle Dog mix is great. Everything about a Cattle Dog is great.
Mixed-breed dogs also tend to be healthier and live longer, on account of not being subject to in-breeding.
Dogs are the BEST
Holy cow. She looks like my grandpa’s dog that is now my dog. She wouldn’t eat or drink or do anything after my grandpa passed. She would just sit in the corner and whimper. Until I came over and she immediately started to act like herself. She is such a smart dog.
My wife works at a vet and the doctor/ owner breeds them. If good health and paying 4-6k is your baseline I can get you a number to call.
Yeah, I’m in convos with 2-3 breeders that have full OFA scopes on parents, but the price is closer to $3k. If Michigan based, shoot me a DM.
Some day…when I save enough money…

I’ll throw in a vote for adopting a sporty dog from a local shelter.
Bernese can be a hot mess in humid Michigan summers.
Just an opinion.
