Canadian Club, the pride of Hiram Walker’s. HQ is beautiful, the original edifice still stands in all its glory and was built in 1858, right on the bank of the Detroit River in Windsor. Worked there as a summer student for a couple of years. Great company to work for. Funny bit: they used to hold public tours and gave each visitor two tickets for a drink. Yeah, that got cut out due to the drinking and driving element. As did the open bar welcome party for summer students each year. We did take advantage of that to say the least. Now that I no longer partake in such escapades it’s just a fond memory of summer’s past and youthful exuberance. Some may remember the giant Canadian Club neon sign which beamed across the river to viewers on the Detroit side.
