The Detroit Lions will head into summer break with another of their draft picks under contract.
Tight end Sam LaPorta signed his four-year contract Thursday, the team announced after its final organized team activity practice of the spring.
LaPorta received a slotted four-year deal worth $9.465 million as the No. 34 pick of April’s draft. His contract includes a signing bonus of $3.884 million, according to Spotrac.
I’m sure Branch’s agent is playing the “should have been drafted higher” card so I expect his deal to take the longest. Not sure what’s taking Gibbs so long. Maybe we’re trying to add language to protect ourselves since he plays such a volatile position?

4 years of Laporta for practically the same cost as Hock would have been in 2023 alone…. 
Moneyball Brad at his best! Now lets hope LaPorta is a stud. Also why I doubt we sign Jonah to a big deal. See Hock as a perfect example.
