Well…. Barnes was a pleasant surprise retention piece for me, and I love the 3 year term. Skipper seemed inevitable, but until we know Manu is at least OT3 capable, he was necessary. Davenport may not be a popular move, but if he’s DE3 or DE4 with Paschal behind him… that’s not a bad place to be.
Reed was a top 3-5 fit in all of FA for us, and a 3 yr deal 20% cheaper than CD3 feels like a super score.
Who is left to target…?
Zietler,.Patrick…Levi?
The fact that none has gotten a deal like BJ Hill, Palmer, or J Daniel’s is promising for us.
Guys I wish we had pulled the trigger on at the price they got, or slightly more…?

that’s not bad as I would have put Reed in that group had he gone elsewhere at his price. I think we missed on 7 total good contracts in all of FA so far, and against 31 other teams. I’d really have liked Ossai, Chinn and Poona at their price tags, but plenty of time left…

Let’s say we land Scherff or Zietler… Patrick and either Levi or Dre’Mont- I think they puts us in “good shape” and with plenty of money to spend right?
At that point I think a veteran safety like Julian Blackmon as an edge like Bosa, Z Smith, or Lawrence really rounds us out.
#2nd DE is the biggest need, extensions of Levi and Zeitler would be enough to fill depth chart. Some good depth player (Safety, DL) for a reasonable contract (no contracts like Cisco as depth piece lol) and we should be good.
I’d really love to see Zeitler back. I’d even give him a second year. He’s got plenty left. Would love a DE add and possibly WR then hit the draft. They need to add a S at some point too. Cupboard is pretty bare beyond the starters. Not expecting much today. Maybe later in the week. Still lots of good players available. Still in the first wave here.
Zeitler is contemplating retirement. I heard from a reliable source here that was 50/50 after the season. He was a steal last year so he might want a raise.
Oddly quiet. My guess is his reps are letting other teams set his market then will ask Brad if he can match. From all I’ve heard he loves it here and would like to be back. Hopefully Holmes gets it done. I’d be pretty upset if he went elsewhere. Could argue that is one of Brads best value additions in FA
The crazy part with CC is he basically played for free last year. Vet minimum contract for a full time starter. Probably the best value in the nfl last year for production to money.
Retirement is a legitimate option for him. He’s made $92M in his career. He’s been healthy, but no one defeats Father Time and does $8-10M more with bad knees or whatever make much of a difference to him?
