Sports Card Collecting

Anyone else here collect?

I just started getting back in it and was on a fanatics live last night spent a few dollars but came away with a /25 jersey card from one of the athletics prospects and a /99 signature card from one of the d backs prospects

@Weaselpuppy is into it quite a bit.

I have a fairly substantial collection from the early 1900’s to 1980. Mostly baseball, but some football, 3 different autographed Sanders rookies, a couple Walter Payton rookies, Gale Sayers rookie. Buy cards periodically, haven’t really done much in the past several years. Keep saying that I need to sell off a substantial portion of my cards, but haven’t found the time.

Niiiiice. I need more Elly.

Have 1 Barry auto rookie. Not a good sig though, should trade up soon.

Waiting for PSA to tell me my 1984 Mattingly Topps rookie I bought as a 9 from another grading company isn’t a 10…but there’s always hope.
Straight to the PC if that gems.

Started a thread on this a few months back… I’m big into it… I’m (almost) embarrassed at the amount of time and money I spend on the hobby…

Here’s my display case of my PC collection… I’ve added more… The top shelf is an easy 10k now that I’ve added Goff and Jamo vertical Kaboom slabs (they’re on their way now)

I’ve also got 2 optic downtowns auto’ed by Hutch and Gibbs that I’m going to get slabbed up as well.

Anyone going to nationals in Chicago in a couple weeks?

This seems like something I would totally be into if I started getting into it.

I have old football cards from the 70’s/80’s…

I used to collect, but then it got expensive. Even junk wax. I used to hunt for HOF rookie cards. Boxes at my local place were 5-8 bucks. Now their 30-40 a box. Now i collect 80s 90s toys, action figures, and a ton more.

Whatsnot has these like 10 second auctions where whoever is top bidder after 10 seconds gets the card

Got a Jalen Daniels/JJ Mac(Rookie) along with a 15 card repack and some other cards ended up being about $20 all together for it all

Also watched a card go for $280.00 im like damn

That’s only sudden death… I’ve bought a bunch on there, only fools buy like that and pay way over comps. The real ones run auctions that automatically add time everytime someone bids in the last 10 seconds… The other people are obnoxious, hype, con men. You can’t evaluate a card’s condition, it’s value and bid all in 10 seconds. People just lose themselves and keep swiping like they’re at a slot machine. I watch cards go for 150-200% their value all the time on those high pressure auctions, people just have money to burn. You can get some good deals tho, if you know what you’re looking for… I got a Jayden Kaboom for 1700 and flipped it the day I received it for 2300. The market is crazy high right now though, repackers are ruining it for a lot of ppl

I got a Clark today for under 20. That one is for my PC. Ungraded online is 60 on ebay

Also paid $5 for a /10 desmond ridder gold. I actually liked the kid coming out of college so most likely another for the PC

I collected cards for a while. Once I realized I was collecting because I thought I could make money instead of because I really liked collecting cards— it was time to get out.

Also, the value of a card is what someone will pay for it—not what a price guide says it’s worth.

like that with anything—what people are willing to pay you. yet I know people who think they can get top dollar for everything , they once paid for…

Jamo wearing 18?

His original rookie number, then 9, now 1… Remember, he only had 1 catch his rookie year… We barely saw him

I don’t even remember him wearing 18… Dude changes numbers more often than his underwear.

I hope you’re right. I never buy when a player is hot. I wait until the offseason
