The first year my friend, his dad, my dad and I got season tickets was 2000. We went to the home opener against Washington and they won 15-10, but there was an awful storm that day and really bad rain. The silverdome had those turnstile doors and on one side of the building they broke and got stuck. So tens of thousands of fans including us were stuck on the concourse, everyone trying to push the doors open to get out. It was mayhem.
Then we got on the road (maybe Opdike, I forget now) and the streets were flooded. Oh and we had to walk through flooding to get to our car.
That was a wild day.
Obviously flooding is still a problem in the metro Detroit area! All the best to anyone who had flooding issues this past week.

This isn’t tailgating but current Lions personnel related.
Back when I was at Michigan State I remember this guy was trying to sell his home tickets vs Indiana because he was going to be out of town. He was a season ticket holder and these were student section tickets. He tried to sell them via his whiteboard on the outside of his dorm door, which actually was pretty effective back then but for whatever reason noone was biting. He started at one price for the tickets and then thru the week you could see him lower the price day after day until finally Friday came and I happened to be walking by his room and he had taped the tickets to his whiteboard and said “FREE! TAKE THEM!!!”
I swooped up the tickets because the price happened to perfectly match my budget at the time. I went to the game and watched my Spartans. The Hoosiers had a QB named Antwaan Randle El.

No, not tailgating related at all, but anytime I can get free duckets I’m gonna tell anyone that’ll listen, so I feel ya.
We got 45 yard 3rd row back seats for Raiders/Cowboys (closest I have ever sat). Everyone yelling at Emmitt Smith on the sideline; not sure if it was coincidence or not, but as soon as I yell my first and only chatter at him, he turned around and flipped the double bird in our direction. “Barry was better” is what I yelled at him. That was a great time, and all because my buddy’s mom was hooking up with some dude that wanted to impress her son, so he gave us the tickets.
Free is for me, especially as expensive as games are now.

Damn, and I bitch when it’s not 70 degrees at a game I’m at. I’ll appreciate it a little more now.

When I was in Portland we went to see Joey in a golf tourney. After 9 holes a gentleman came up to us and gave us his ViP passes since he was going home. It was Joeys dad. We were in the tent eating and drinking beers and talking about how great Barry was and how much better he was than Emmitt. We than realized Emmitt was sitting at the table next to us. He just sorta gave us a look. Was pretty funny

Yes sir! Arrowhead is quite the experience. The tailgating is (was) amazing, and the food is incredible. The atmosphere in the stadium is insanity. I know some people think that FF gets loud. It’s not even close. I’d have loved to hear the Silverdome in it’s day though, people talk about how loud it was there.

Let me know if you want some places to hit up when you come to KC. I’ll steer you to some true KC BBQ.

Yeah, on a good Sunday, the Silverdome was louder.

That’s cool of Joe’s dad!! I love events like that (I’ve been privileged to one or two, by chance). Emmitt gets a lot of that, I’m sure. At least he better, cause it’s the gawdamn truth!
I’ve always “been told” that KC BBQ is the weakest of the bunch. I actually love the sweet sauce (second to mustard), so I never really got the hate. To be honest, I will eat a rib or oxtail anywhere I can find it, so I doubt I’ll be disappointed. I may hit you up though, as I have been considering a roadie to Iowa to see a brother of mine who broke out of the prison that is California.
