The Den's Annual NFL Mock Draft 2026 Edition - Lions Selection at 50

Will leave the poll up tonight

We should have, to ensure that The Den got it right. :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face: It just so happened to be my choice too.

Part of NFL’s Lance Zeirlein’s evaluation: ā€œMoore is far more active and engaged as a rusher than he is as a run defender. He has the ability to set firm edges, but his approach against the run can lack urgency.ā€

Another way to look at that, Lance, is that he’s maintaining his own assignment within a defensive concept.

And he brings the heat off the edge more quickly and consistently than Jacas and DDS, at least in my feverish mind. Moore is about a year and a half older than Jacas though, and a year than DDS, so there’s that.

Brad should draft him. He’s due for some good injury luck. If the Bears get him a few spots after us, I’ll be p*ssed in the moment. What will the future bring?

I don’t agree with this at all. Schwesinger was a legit off-ball LBer. Golday is more of a pass-rushing SAM RPO buster. Drew Sanders 2.0.

In fact the way Cincy used him makes him a really tricky eval. He’s almost like an overhang SAM smashing the B gap all game long. I have no idea if he can do actual NFL LBer things (turns out Sanders can’t). You’d think with the straight-line speed he’d be able to turn and run with TEs at least but he doesn’t even do that. Full-on panic mode at the catch point. And he can’t redirect. BYU just killed them all game long by fooling him into thinking RPO, he would crash down then he couldn’t change direction when they went the other way. Over and over and over again.

I don’t know that he CAN’T play some traditional MIKE, but man he doesn’t have hardly any traditional MIKE reps on his tape. He would make me very nervous taking him as early as he’s gonna go. I heard someone say peolpe are trying to see legit LB tape because they love the athlete, but there’s just very little that will translate and the athlete, functionally, isn’t even that great. Out in a sprint and sideline-to-sideline, sure, but he really labors to change direction.

Role-wise Rodriguez is a lot more like Schwesinger. Doesn’t have nearly his build though.

If his name was Kenny Golday, with a not cool haircut…

… your evaluation would change

I would play Banks as a base DE and then move him inside on passing downs. At Florida they used him all over 1T, 3T and 5T. he is much more effective when he is lined up outside the OG as a 3, 4 or 5T against the run. He is not at his best against double teams in a phone booth. When he has a little room to work he is an absolute beast.

It would not surprise me if the Chiefs draft him. It was their team doctor that performed the corrective surgery on his foot. From what I read having the surgery makes for a more certain recovery long term although the initial recovery could be 4 months instead of 4 weeks had he not had the surgery.

Banks’ foot scares me at 17. At 50? I’m sprinting to the podium to grab my lottery ticket.

Banks getting a lil bit of momentum, but Gabe Jacas has a pretty sizeable lead rn.

If he agrees to pronounce it ā€œjackassā€ I will change my vote.

You know who Banks reminds me of? And a lot comes with this that I’m not including in my comparison. Just the player …

Albert Haynesworth

The Den will be such fun if Brad does that and Banks turns out to be Levi Onwuzurike 2.0. Has Brad been singed into restraint?

I actually think his run defense would probably scare us off. He’s an odd player. Super talented just with a game that in some ways runs contrary to what you’d expect for a DT in that body.

Honestly, I don’t think we’ll draft him. I agree with you - he can impact a game for sure but the problem seems to be he is not ā€œonā€ every play. It doesn’t sound like Dan and Brad’s kind of guy, but they seemed pretty interesting last year with that giant NT from Kentucky.

If you are looking for a big fat NT that clogs the middle and takes on double teams Banks is not your guy. I have watched a lot of Banks over the last 2 years and I did not see a player that is lazy or taking plays off. In fact I see a DE with a high motor, super play strength, and just destroys plays in the opponents backfield. His motor and movement you just don’t see in guys his size. Again I would be drafting him as a 2 down DE that moves inside on obvious passing downs. If we are drafting him to just be a NT or a 3T DT I would pass.
