[Lions] Lions announce roster moves: Placed OL Halapoulivaati Vaitai on Injured Reserve. Released CB Anthony Averett & RB Devine Ozigbo from the Practice Squad. Signed OL Michael Schofield & CB Kindle Vildor to the Practice Squad.
Which, by the way will be the next name of my death metal band project
Kindle is a good stock to buy into right now.
If you’re not going to bring in a big name CB at the trade deadline.
Bring in a CB with the most metal name possible after the deadline
I like it
I guess that’s the end of vaitai in detroit.
tbh i was surprised he stayed on the team this year. Dude that old with that injury with that cap hit. Also was surprised he won the starting job out of camp.
Him being on IR mid season is the least surprising thing all year
That was fast. Philly released him just yesterday.
I just wish we accepted the C Harris, Romeo and Big V were done prior to March- cut them- ate the hit this year when we had ample room… signed 2 viable replacements, and had zero voided year hits next year from them.
Let me know when you’re ready to start that band because yes.
Either a death metal band or a Harry Potter character. Or maybe a Kurt Vonnegut character
I liked Vaitai and he obviously endeared himself to our coaching staff when they could’ve just cut him outright. Sorry it’s ending this way but not surprised. I hope he has a healthy life post football
I’ve been wanting to find some home recording and sampling equipment and do a death metal project with every song taking a theme and samples from old Hammer horror films
I haven’t broke out my electric guitar in some years but I used to have some serious chops
Given the example you just used, I’m going to make the case this is what some people are missing about the team building and culture.
Take all those guys - Harris, Romeo, Vaitai.
Harris - signed with us on a prove it deal, proved it for a year, this year had an injury and has struggled but by all accounts a hard worker and good locker room dude
Romeo - resigned with a new contract when we absolutely sucked and wanted to be part of the new regime and staff. Then tore his Achilles in his first year with the new contract. Similar situation to Tracy Walker. Good players when given the contract, had some inopportune shit injuries.
Vaitai - was signed by the previous regime to an awful contract. The new regime worked with him, appreciated his worth and kept him around. Then he took a big paycut to stay with us and help the team. Fought through tough injuries.
This is when culture is more important than perceived “talent” or more likely, name recognition. These guys all bought into the team and culture when they didn’t have to. We gave them an opportunity to prove themselves, rewarded them for their hard work, and were some of the first examples of our new regime taking care of our own before selling out for the “hot young thing” I.e. the free agent of the month, and winning free agency and the month of March.
You take care of the people who took care of you when you were starting out, have a clear vision and mission, you don’t waiver from that, at all. Because the faith and trust you build up over years can be destroyed in a hot minute. Holmes and Campbell are very aware of this and are building this team the right way and diligently. It’s not using guys and then tossing them to the side. It’s having honest conversations and expectations, and then working together to when those things work out or don’t work out but having mutual respect.
The best asset we may have in our front office is we are self aware and understand how to work with and manage people
If you are serious DM me, but my best advice to do that would be to:
A) break out the guitar
B) get GarageBand (Mac’s are easy for this stuff)
C) get an audio interface which is easy and cheap or a mic to mic your amp, whichever way you want to go but you can start recording easily and immediately with just a guitar, an interface, and GarageBand.
And hammer horror films are awesome.
thanks man! I think I will DM you in a bit. I’ve been thinking about doing this for about a year and bought some nice road NT1s and NT2s that a former friend stole then lied about it
I have an older MacBook (2019) that I can wipe clean and dedicate to be a music computer as well
Excellent. I was thinking of a character in a Terminator or Rocky movie.
Sounds like a Star Wars character.
100% he retires at the end of the season. I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t.
Let’s do it, anytime man!
A 2019 MacBook is newer than mine and I use mine with no problem to record stuff. Would be happy to talk about it and help you out and collaborate!
I am not necessarily a metal player but I like to think I’m a quick learner and can play and adjust to what needs to be done!
Word! I’ll message you later tonight or tomorrow and we can start a convo about it. these days mostly I just strum on my Laravee but My old modified Charvelle model five Used to put out some pretty sic licks in my youth. In my early 20s my best friend from high school was a drummer and we would play originals and Megadeth covers in our rented studio garage.
