What a fantastic goal.
Nevermind. Called back. VAR sucks.
Belgium also has Hercule Poirot.
A beauty that counts.
Game on!
Belgian waffles are 100 times better than waffle house.
Unbelievable
Helluva game.
Oh I know. Well, real Belgian waffles. I actually think technically Waffle House serves Belgian Waffles, but they’re belgian waffles the same way an American pizza is anything like the ones served in Italy.
Unbelievable! Wow
Another sensation game.
The Germans, Japanese and Americans lose early. The Belgians actually win despite “our Den(s)”. The Italians are non combatants.
Most historically inaccurate World Cup ever!
Argentina just too damn good. Egypt dropping to a back 6 and leaving 11 behind the ball just let them keep attacking. Not sure I want Argentina being able to throw constant numbers at me.
I have been waiting for this comment.
Let me first say that there is for sure some discussion on this idea. BUTTTTTT
Belgium is a country of 11.5M, Norway is a country of 5.6M…the USA is 350M strong…
Basically the USMNT just got their ass handed to them by an ALL Star team from the Chicago Metropolitan area (9.5M) and Wayne Country (1.7M) combined… and Norway is half the size of Belgium.
So the idea that the USA is not sending their best athletes is a bit of a stretch when you look at the numbers. The issue is that the USA is complete trash at development of players. I have read that the Philly MLS team is doing some much better work and they are kicking out better players. But the main issue is that instead of focusing purely on player development the US clubs boast about winning and sacrifice valuable time at younger ages on strategy and how to win rather than individual skill development.
All is not lost. The USA used to have the same issue in wrestling and they have turned it around. Russia is still the best in general but the USA is clearly the second best with their eyes set on being the best and they have a plan. If you follow it at all the young kids coming up right now (17-19) are pushing the 28 year old men. So the plan is working.
Also until the USA develops a truly elite top 5 striker they have almost zero chance of getting beyond the round of 8. They could get to the quarters but from that point on you gotta have some serious dogs to move forward.
If last night did not highlight that the USA was not able to win many 1v1 battles due to size/strength/skill/speed I am not sure what more you need to see. Pulisic was exposed to why he is only viewed on the world stage as a support guy but not someone to build around. Against the best or when targeted by world class players he is neutralized. He is a very good player but not someone who can impose his will on a game.
Watching Belgium bully the USMNT all over the field was brutal and exposed to the world that the USA is just not getting it yet. I have hope because their are some very promising younger players and also some of the best athletes are being recruiting and getting into the EU clubs. SO their is hope. Right now if the USA wants elite layers they need to have our youth shipped of to EU at 12 years old and be coached and developed over there
Youth soccer in the US is also a joke. It’s more about making money than it is developing players and talent.
My cousins kids mind you they aren’t very old play in stupid ass leagues. Soccer that important in USA. They just got done playing in sand wtf , how does that make one better playing in sand its not f ing beach volleyball
Other than it being fun, I’m not sure what else they’d benefit from it. Certainly can’t work dribbling. And I’m doubtful a real soccer ball works on sand. May as well just play with a beach ball.
Running on sand improves conditioning, for one.
In any case, I saw a really fit dude with a soccer ball on beach here last week, it had a slight slope. He was running and dribbling like hell up and down the beach. Seems very skilled. And very low body fat.
