There are five guys at the top of this draft class

I didn’t know any of this stuff. Smart AND nasty…Love it! Let’s sign this dude up, and get a DE to go with him. Looking like Daniels is gone, and Snacks is transitioning from Pro-bowl version of himself, to more of a Hiloti Ngata (the late in career version we had). That would be a great tandem, for the games that Snacks is healthy.

Is Daniels all the way done, or is he just having terrible luck with injury? Guessing he’s out, but maybe we get lucky and he shows up as a cheap depth player next season.
Lots of decisions with our own FAs next year. Hope Robinson sticks around and and contributes for a reasonable price.
Snacks, Robinson, Brown would be fun.
I like Flowers a lot more than most of you guys, but also concede that we need some help from the other DE position.

I feel like the addition of Brown would literally make every other player on the D look better. Offenses have to account for that sort of presence.

Chase Young is better than both of the Bosa brothers IMO at the college level. Would be nice for the Lions to get lucky like that.

I’m fine with it. Brown is pretty special. Definitely think he’s a top 10 guy. Definitely has some rare traits. Threat in both the run and the pass game.

If we go that route though we need to get some juice off the edge soon thereafter.

Curtis Weaver? Hamilcar Rashed? Terrell Lewis? Julian Okwara? Jonathan Greenard?

sure do wish we could see what we have in Bryant, this year. he appears to be a high motor guy, and stay with plays, but may not have the speed rush that translates to NFL. I can’t wait to find out.

Mike Daniels has not shown us a gd thing and we should show him the door as soon as the season ends so is not to tempt us to try and resign him cheap and have him screw us again.

A bunch of posters on here like to defend certain players by saying it’s a team game, which is true. But they miss the fact that some positions are much more important than others. Some will try to say RG is just as important as the QB.
If Burrows or Herbert is there, I hope the Lions take them. Of course, there is about a zero percent chance of that happening unless Quinn and Patricia are shown the door. Most teams only get so many opportunities to take elite QB talent. The last time the Lions were in position to take a QB with great potential, they did it. They never won with him, but you still have to pull the trigger the next time. I don’t believe Stafford is ever coming back to 100%. I expect more of the same next year. Injured a lot. I’m pretty sure Burrows will get drafted by the wasteland that is the Bengals. That leaves Herbert, but the Lions will probably draft a safety or ILB or something like that with their top 4 pick.

And if Blake Bortles had panned out, he would have had far more of an impact than a Sammy Watkins or even the great Mike Evans.

I have never seen Lions fans say that RG is as important as QB. Do you have a link?

I think this is the most likely scenario, brother. Hate it, because the healthy version of him is a perfect fit for what we need.

Yes, because everybody keeps links to every conversation that has ever taken place on message boards.

We have a search feature. Do you recall who said it, and how many people agreed with the statement?

It may have been the wolfcub guy when he was posting about how Stafford has never had any quality players ever around him. He said something like Stafford was only one of 22 starters.

Nobody said it.

Some of us are more focused on positional value than others, but nobody disregards it entirely.

There are posters who don’t believe in positional value. That’s ok, because our GM doesn’t either. There are people who get fully erect at the thought of taking a guard/ TE/DB high in the draft. Then they will bang the table for a full back later in the draft… but will freak out if the Lions draft a QB at any point.

Live in Eugene. Seen Herbert a ton in person. Do not want. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane type IMO.

Here’s a search result using the phrase "as important"https://lionstalk.com/search?context=topic&context_id=2796&q=%22As%20important%20%22&skip_context=true

I’m a huge ducks fan and I agree with you. I don’t see him becoming a successful NFL QB. I like him better than Joey but not nearly as much as Mariota. Hopefully a team drafting in front of us sees it differently.

well to be fair, Stafford has been playing with multiple injuries behind our O-lines , here we sit in 2019 just barely getting a ‘decent’ running game started after Matt’s career , the defense has been garbage the vast majority of Stafford’s career…and I have been literally commenting dozens of times how there isn’t MUCH wrong with our offense this season, but I guess you missed that, I have also praised Bevell and Matt Patricia bc HE is an HC not the DC. but need I remind you The Lions were the first team in NFL history to go 0-16 , had back to back season’s where the team lead the League in dropped football’s , and currently have one of thee worst defenses in the NFL . I NEVER said Stafford had ZERO players that can play , I said he has had MANY more that couldn’t and are gone or on their way. Tell me Gio are you claiming he had a season where he had highly productive playmakers??

I’ll ADD that I have always said, that Stafford has had his own flaws , made HIS own mistakes , and flat played poorly at times all through his career to including him with TEAM errors.

It’s always been that way, many times I pointed to leadership mistakes as reason MORE as to why this team never reaches a bowl. we always change HC’s , GM’s , DC’s, OC’s there is no stability or continuity in our leadership/front office. I was hoping for an experienced, knowledgeable, bowl-winning HC BUT we ran out and put an inexperienced HC that had never been a HC in, instead . “good enough for the Lions right !?” I do not blame Patricia because he happened to be handed that job, AND I “know” he is inexperienced.

One “fatal flaw” to Joey’s game was that he struggled to deliver a consistently accurate ball off platform. Going back and analyzing those games over and over again it was a light bulb moment for me how often an NFL QB needs to be able to throw off platform, and now its one of the first criteria I look at with new prospects. Watching Joey throw a slant and Brett Favre throw one was night and day. Joey would obviously stop, plant and make the throw…giving the defenders a chance to jump the route either to break up the play or get into position to make an immediate tackle. Brett would often times throw his slant while still back peddling, just an arm whip and it made it so much harder to defend and led to more yards after the catch. Just one observation.

Love reading your take on things, dude.
Joe (refuse to call a grown man a baby kangaroo) was also not a good leader. It was like he was pumping out fake optimism, like a cheerleader. Dude had no faith in himself/his abilities, the team, etc. He was saying the right things, and he was full of shit 90% of the time. Nice person, but not mentally equipped to lead a locker room full of alpha energy.

Simmons is a heck if a player but isn’t he like 225 lbs. not a MP type. That’s assuming MP is still the coach.
