This all seems so surreal to me…..I’m sure others feel the same

One day Dan Campbell’s statue is gonna be next to Barry’s.

I have been a fan since Barry and I still am constantly waiting for the wheels to fall off.

I’m used to the lovable losers who can’t win a playoff game and lose on last second miraculous plays.

I used to introduce my fandom as a “long suffering Lions fan.”

This is weird. And good. But weird.

I remember that game well. Greg Landry couldn’t move the team and Bill Munson came in to relieve him and marched them down the field, only to throw a high interception to Mel Renfrow, I think, I’m not sure if that was the play to McCulloch or not, but it could have sailed through McCullouch’s hands, or it could have been a totally separate play. The pain is being slowly wiped out by these Lions today!

My earliest memories were hurrying home from a real HS game in NJ (my Dad’s alma mater) in time to watch the Thanksgiving game in black and white on my grandmother’s TV. There were alot of ties in those days, I remember watching a couple ties. I vaguely remember watching a game which was supposed to be the first NFL game broadcast in color (I think it was called “tecni-color” at the time). Although it was still in black and white for me. My grandfather laughed because I asked him if he could put some “color tubes” in his TV. “No, that’s not how it works, sonny. Only really rich people have color TV!”

A few years later…maybe 1968 or 69?, I first got to watch a Lions Thanksgiving game in color. When I saw their Honolulu blue for the first time, it was glorious! Such was being a Lions fan in NJ!

I remember that game against Dallas. it was a painful loss.
My first Thanksgiving game to watch was 1970 against
the Oakland Raiders. The Lions smoked the Raiders 28 -14.
Al Davis made such a fuss that his team should wear black
uniforms so they could be more featured. The lions were in
white. Look it up.

I remember that game as well. Loved the black and silver uni’s.

I think the 0-16 season stuck in DC’s craw and stayed there for years until he got the job and Heimlich maneuvered that bitch outta here!
