It is no longer for the division, but to make the playoffs, the Tigers’ magic number is-

While I get I’m defending him, well, compared to the send him down, cut him, trade him, I can tell by his interviews he doesn’t care crowd, so defending him from that criticism, sure. I have also acknowledge he has to make changes, more than once.

But I’m not apologizing because I don’t rip him a new @$#$ every strikeout. I just don’t feel the need to hammer a point, an obvious one at that, to no end not the way I am in real life which is how I treat any SM(theden) I frequent as well. Nor is it how I manage people who report to me who have struggles in their position, especially young employees who are still learning.

Making changes in season is extremely difficult to do in baseball and there is no doubt he is in his own head right now. He turns 25 next week iirc and has improved his performance each year. I expect him to make changes, just didn’t expect it to happen in season.

Also, a guy who hits 30+homeruns 100 rbi’s would be wanted by most MLB teams, especially a team whose offense struggles like Cleveland.

I dont even know if the tigers win again at this point.

I agree on the production point you make, as the team was flawed in spite of their record, which, could be why they didn’t go for heavy moves at the deadline, I don’t.

I think the one area where Harris has struggled mightily is at the trade deadline and need to see him improve there. We will see if he can.

Which traded player(s) specifically are you referencing that leads you to think the farm system suffered a setback at the deadline?

Dont know what dark magic Cleveland has been cooking up but i turned to the game last night and we get ahead and they get a guy on base and literally the next guy hits a weird HR(only in Cleveland would it be a HR) where normally Parker Meadows makes that catch with no issues 99/100. What is happening is something surreal

That sucks, sadly one of my wife’s/daughter’s favorite cats was diagnosed with cancer, amputated one of her back legs a few weeks back. Amazing resilience in animals.

Yea, Cal definitely deserves it over Judge. He has been amazing at the plate but his defense hasn’t been bad either… much harder than OF.

Freep on two teams …

While it’s not an exact comparison, you can find some wild similarities.

On July 8, 2024, the Tigers were 43-48 — 14 games back in the AL Central.

This year, on July 8, the Guardians were 42-48 — 15.5 games back.

In fact, you could argue Cleveland is 2024 Detroit, 2.0. The improved version.

Kid has been a starter overall so good to see this as it will be his role next season imo.

The hardest part for me right now is looking at all the really good players that will be free agents after the season and knowing that we probably won’t be in on any of them.

I think we are just going to have to accept the fact that we will build our team through the prospect pipeline and hope that it’s enough.

Either way I will go to my grave being in love with The Detroit Tigers.

That is one question we still don’t have an answer on but they will have to fill in with some FA. Thus the 6yr 171m offer to Bregman last year, gives some hope they will go after some guys with legitimate offers instead of the Injured FA gamble…

I see Houston lost again last night. It’s like they are having a choking contest in the AL!

The real needle movers in FA are Tucker, Bregman, Suarez and Bichette, assuming Alonso and Schwarbs are not fits for us. Maybe Bellinger.

I assume they will be out on SP until they get a deal or no go from Boras/Skubal and from Flaherty on his $20m opt in.

Finnegan may get a nice 3 year offer near 45 t0 50m.

Suarez is a band aid, but an effective one. Bregman is gonna get a very big deal for a 32 year old guy who probably won’t finish his deal at 3b, and whose last “elite” year was JuiceBall19.

Suarez/Finnegan accomplishes a floor. Skubal them becomes the bazillion dollar question. Harris needs to throw $ at these cats while he still can.

Tucker is too risky. Too much injury history for the $ he will get. Bellinger probably getting 4 years? Not sure I like that either. I know I dont like his defense.

We may see a trade here too. Two, if Skub says peace out.
