Meadows stinks . Need to move on or he could be the 4th of

We sure did look a lot better as a team as soon as Jones pinch hit for Meadows in what was that, the 4th or 5th?

The Tigers radio announcers said yesterday the Tigers averaged 5 runs per game over the 1st 140 games. Then averaged 2.5 runs over the last 25 games.

Pretty crazy. And then 5 mins later the offense exploded.

I’m cutting Ibanez if we have to cut someone to get Bregman.

If we do end up trading Skubal I would expect that at least some of that will work itself out.

We don’t necessarily have to expect only prospects in return. Getting a young mlb player in return should also be on the table. Especially at 3rd base.

You know I expected him for sure to opt out…but after he missed so much time with injury his final numbers really dropped off. Maybe he doesn’t opt out.

His final numbers were 18 homers and a .822 OPS

Before he got hurt his OPS was like .950

Really cooled off

Imagine having the choice to opt out or settle for 40 million per season!? Just wild the money these dudes make

Keith will be a starter not a utility player.

I agree that McGonigle will probably not be brought up immediately, but hopefully at some point in the season he will be. Either way, he appears to be a cornerstone piece to the Tigers future and that has to be accounted for.

I agree with @frm710 that Keith will be given his shot at 2nd base in 2026.

Meadows at DH seems a bit out of whack to me. His only strength to this team right now is his defense, not hitting IMO.

I think most agree that 3rd base and DH are the obvious targets. I’d throw bullpen as well. They definitely need to up the talent in the bullpen.

As far as not worrying about ā€˜27 and beyond, I guarantee Harris does take that into consideration. As he should.

Remember Keith was the starting second baseman until this year when the preseason plan was to move him to first as Tork was pretty much written off. Thus the Torres signing, so I may quibble with the wording you use, :), more like Keith being moved back to 2nd base with Tork having the year he did.

And, I’m still not sold on Tork long term.

Agree with your wording.

And I can understand your position on Tork, but I’m sure you agree that Briceno is a long term option there as well, so addressing 1st base with free agency and big dollars is off the table.

At some point the Torkelson, Briceno, Larinzo puzzle is going to have to be worked out.

If we keep all 3 I guess we can assume Larinzo as back up Catcher to Dingler, and then Torkelson and Briceno alternate between 1st base and DH.

How would you see it playing out with those 3?

Side Note: If Larinzo doesn’t show better development he may not even be a piece to the puzzle.

I’m not sure if Liranzo is a long term option at catcher, doubtful and why he was the one guy I wasn’t going to be upset over if traded. Perhaps next deadline or this offseason.

Briceno also can give Hinch an extra option for catching in certain cases, the flexibility he loves with his lineup and or pinch hitting late.

This offseason is going to one of the most interesting we’ve seen in a long time. Moreso with the real probability of a MLB strike in 14months.

Carp to dh. Sign an of. 3 yr or less

Dingler and Baez were really the only plus fielders in 2025. I hope we don’t forget about defense.

Lironzo by most pro scouts. Have said hes a 1/3 basemen. Not enough hop to be a MLB catcher.

But thats a problem for after the lockout,

Torque yes is streaky and not all that consistent,

HOWEVER his IS the most consistent CLUTCH hitter on the team.

He definitely was this season.

Generally with that much youth, you see trades of the older prospects. Baltimore just did this with Stowers and Norby, to clear room for Mayo and Basallo and Kjerstad etc.

Depends what is available on the market FA wise and trade wise too.

I can see it playing out alternately that Carp plays a lot of RF, Keith DH, McGonigle 2nd and Baez SS, from a defensive standpoint. Rainier gonna take SS and is probably ready when Baez’s deal is up after 27.

CF is an issue until Clark is ready.

This all means 3b is the FA target and Anderson is without a home. It could go a lot of ways…but they need an Alpha pack leader bat in FA/Trade. Nothing more clear than that.

One additional thing to consider going into this offseason is how free agents will view Detroit, specifically the Skubal-less Tigers.

Will the Tigers be able to sign a Tucker, Bregman etc if Skubal is gone or if they believe he will be gone after 2026? I have my doubts at least for the big name FA’s.

It makes me think trades are more likely if the team knows it can’t sign him.
