it’s skubal day…
Ewww
Not today; Friday.

Correct, thus the 28th date in the topic subject line
watch us light him up then lose the remaining games. it’s the tiger way.
Anderson going against that Dodgers lineup is very frightening too.
MLB needs a mercy rule.
The baseball season is kind of over for me. Just make the kids better, prepare for the lockout, and don’t give up any years of control. And McGonigle needs to get us that extra draft pick.

Scouting report
Skubal, Dodgers: The last time he took the mound at Comerica Park he was wearing the Old English D and he got a thunderous ovation when he left the game in the seventh inning. Now he’s back, seemingly finding his groove with the Dodgers. He struck out 11 hitters in seven innings in Pittsburgh last time out. One of the oddities this season has been his issues with left-handed hitters. They are hitting nearly 100 points higher than righties (.282 vs. .189) with an OPS that’s 200 points higher (.755 vs. 553).
Anderson, Tigers: He has essentially taken Skubal’s spot in the rotation and is coming off a five-inning loss to the Royals, done in by a pair of solo homers in a 3-1 loss. He is getting a 38% whiff rate with his changeup and 34% with his curveball, which is helping him average 10 strikeouts per nine innings. But recently the damage is coming off big flies ― four homers, seven earned runs allowed in his last three starts.
I think that’s a lock at this point. His WAR and stats of that nature are becoming historic and those are the stats that voters care about now.
We should get that extra pick, and then another extra competitive balance pick. Harris is gonna have some fun in next year’s draft.
You’d imagine if any manager would be able to put together a good gameplan against Skubal, it’d be the one that managed him for five years of his career.
Man I never would have thought that. .755 OPS by lefties is actually quite bad for a left handed pitcher ![]()
People shouldn’t boo or cheer today.
Oh you gotta cheer the 2 time Cy Young IMO. At least before the game starts. Once it starts well then yea throw pretzels of course.
Naw he wanted out. But I think they should throw little ceasers pepperoni at him and LAD
FWIW, Skubal only ever sees the absolute best lefties in the entire league, so holding them to those numbers is somewhat impressive.
I’m just sad that Riley’s still out…would of been humorous to see him K 4 times against Skoob tonight ![]()

Last year lefties had a .507 OPS against him which was pretty much the best in baseball. That’s why it surprised me how well they are hitting him this year. Mind you It’s only 110 at bats.
