:arrow_forward: Skubal, Tigers: The Pirates tried to beat Skubal with a lineup of nine right-handed hitters on Wednesday. He countered attacked with high-octane four-seamers (sitting 97 mph) and changeups. The result, seven scoreless innings, three singles, nine strikeouts. In the American League, Skubal ranks first in WHIP (0.82) and hard-hit rate (21.3%), second in WAR (2.4) and third in opponent average (.180) and strikeout-to-walk rate (27).

:arrow_forward: Eovaldi, Rangers: He returned from a groin injury on Tuesday and pitched three innings. He’d been out most of May and threw only 34 pitches. Before he was shut down, though, he was attacking hitters with his usual mix 95-mph four-seam (opponent average .203) and hard, 89-mph splitter (.163, 38.6% whiff).

Big test for Skubal tonight, against a really good lineup.

Malloy is in the lineup tonight. Batting 6th, and DHing

The Rangers and Houston both being under .500 is pretty wild.

So I just need to stay awake for the first Tiger innings to make sure I see at least one ab by him. Whew, think I got this

He just missed it. I really thought it was a HR off the bat

Atta Boy Jake

Need to get to this Ranger’s bullpen.

It wasn’t the most dominant outing for Skubal, but he pitched out of a few jams and only gave up one run.

The front runner for the cy young now has an era that sits below 2.

I think that Umpire may need to be first to take a breathalyzer, that wasn’t a strike…but we’ll take it.

Brieske with a strong inning, or, put it another way, wildly effective.

Wow, Jake Rogers with another solo shot
2-1 Tigers on two Jake Rogers HR’s.

He is the best player on the field tonight, and not only because of the HR’s

That was a master class in pitch framing the last half inning.

And with that, the Tigers are at .500

Flaherty is pitching as good as anybody in baseball right now.

Also, he is going to throw a no no this year…book it.
