First pitch: Monday-Tuesday – 6:40 p.m.; Wednesday – 1:10 p.m.
TV/radio: Monday-Wednesday, FanDuel Sports/97.1
Probables: Monday – RHP Shane Baz (8-3, 4.33) vs. TBA; Tuesday – RHP Ryan Pepiot (6-6, 3.34) vs. RHP Jack Flaherty (5-9, 4.84); Wednesday – RHP Zack Littell (7-7, 3.50) vs. RHP Reese Olson (4-3, 2.89). The Rays’ probables are not official.
Baz, Rays: Riley Greene doubled and homered off Baz in Tampa on June 20 but he still punched out six in 5.1 innings. He features an electric 96-97 mph four-seamer and a ground-ball inducing knuckle-curve. He’s got a 50.6% ground-ball rate this season and gets significant swing-and-miss with four different pitches (four-seam, curve, changeup and cutter).
Tigers: Manager AJ Hinch has not named a starter. It’s possible he could use an opener in front of a couple of bulk relievers.
Mize over Kooch… But Kooch at least has thrown over 100ings with a sub 3 era…Julio has an ops below .700 that one is iffy, very iffy. Julio’s reputation and media coverage is way better than the player on the field. His 2024 season was nothing special either.
