It bothered me even more when Dirks tried to defend Valdez. I know it’s his job but anybody with two eyes could see what happened and why it happened. Valdez was pissed because he was getting lit up like a Christmas tree and acted like a poor sport.

Interesting read, may be why Valdez has struggled from the Royals Hosmer.

No indications that C Stallions was under contract with the Red Sox at this time. PI in NE is on the case

Was Framber Valdez retaliating for Red Sox grip-stealing? Video says yes

Hosmer believed there was another pre-determined motivation for getting to second base. As the video showed, both players were stealing Valdez’s pitch grips from second base and relaying what pitch was coming.

The video showed first Abreu peering in. Which is perfectly legal, by the way. Once he determined the grip, sinker or breaking ball, he stood at second and made eye contact with Story. If he stood with both feet on the bag or with one on the second base side, he didn’t have the grip.

But, as was the case in these videos, he had his right foot on the third base side, which meant he had the grip. When he took his lead, he raised his right arm to indicate that spin was coming.

Story, in that at-bat, hit a hard ground ball off a curveball that Zach McKinstry booted at third base. Story stole second and repeated the same process. He spied the grip, relayed the pitch to Ceddanne Rafaela, this time a sinker, and he swatted a three-run homer to right field.

The Red Sox had runners at second base throughout the five-run second inning and it was likely between the second and third innings that Valdez was alerted to the Red Sox spying.

Valdez was asked if he thought the Red Sox had something on him after the game.

“I’ve been working on my mechanics, trying to put the ball in the strike zone, so that idea came through my mind,” Valdez said through interpreter Carlos Guillen. "Was I tipping my pitches? Was I doing something with my mechanics that gave something away? Honestly, I don’t think so. If that was the case and they did have something on me, then good for them. That means I was not doing my job.

That is very sneaky crap right there. The good news is that it’s easily to correct versus it being mechanics or arm problems.

Framber suspended 6 games…so one start.

Also, AJ suspended for tonight. Not really sure why.

He isn’t really missing a start. His start is just basically being pushed back one day. Not really a biggie.

If the league feels a pitcher intentionally threw at a batter then it’s very common for the manager to get suspended too. I guess that its supposed to send some kind of message.

This Tigers season is really starting to feel like the Lions season the past 2 seasons. It’s getting old.

Thanks for sharing that, was interesting to see the chess match going down. But that’s on Valdez. He’s a vet. You got a runner on second base, hide your grip better. All is fair in love, war and baseball. You let a base runner steal your grip, do better buttercup. Plus Valdez has pitched for a cheating team most of his career. He should know better. So should AJ.

Surprised Dingler didn’t pick up on the strategy sooner since he was looking right at it.

Obviously didn’t spend enough
