+ TNF Panthers vs Texans Thread +

Not that many are watching it. But for those that are…go Panthers!

The Panthers lead the league in sacks and QB hits. Its a great time for a rookie to be making his first start on a short week.

Amazing that the Texans have a QB like Watson and he’s a healthy scratch.

Its interesting how they are trying to massage the situation. We don’t know how its going to turn out, it could be a stroke of genius. At that point we would have to hand it to them. But on the surface it looks like they are blowing it.

And didn’t they have a defense so bad a couple of years ago that they had to go all defense in a draft?

There might be light at the end of the tunnel.

They had problems last year even. And somehow we put up 0 points against them. They didn’t even have another game with single digits given up…and they pitched a shutout. They had given up 79 points the previous 2 weeks…and they gave up 60 the next 2 games. But 0 inbetween. WTF?

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, here’s the “mixed reality Panther” they are now using at home games.

I wish we could’ve brought Mark Ingram in on that 1 year 2.5 million dollar contract. I am sure MCDC is familiar with him from his time in New Orleans.

I remember playing Ingram in high school. He was unstoppable.

Charles Rogers was probably still my favorite to watch though. Dude ran like a gazelle. Always so sketchy going to Saginaw High though. Policer officers escorting players on and off the field.

“If you are not the breadwinner, you have to be able to contribute on special teams.” - Dan Campbell

Part of the reason why Ingram was a healthy scratch to end his Ravens career was he fell down the depth chart but didn’t contribute on special teams. So it was hard to justify suiting him up.

True. I am just thinking in nostalgic purposes. He is kinda washed up now.

Probably good that Mark Ingram left the state anyways. After seeing what happened with Charles Rogers. Dude was way to giving to his family and friends. Got hooked on opioids, went broke from drugs and giving his fortune away to others. Leaving nothing for himself. Sad sad story.

Nice seeing Derrick Brown and Brian Burns making an impact. Loved both those guys in the draft.

Otherwise Darnold looks good in Carolina. Glad to see him doing well.

Panthers dominated this game so far and it’s only 7-0.

Why clock it? You have time

Not to harp on the Manning coverage but its so different than the regular commentators. Aikman just described the TD throw from Davis as “going thru his progressions and hitting his 2nd read.” His observation was very surface level. It looked like Mills looked right…then he turns to the 2nd spot and fires the ball. So Aikman gives the surface level assessment. Look 1…fire 2. Oh he’s moving thru his progressions and found his 2nd read after the 1st one was covered!

Its funny watching the Manning coverage of the same types of plays, but kind of get the “real story” as they see it. Aikman might be right. But I’ve noticed alot of times where the Manning’s are able to pull up replay and walk thru it describing the play design and how its set up to take advantage of the particular defense. And as it turns out, the play was designed for the guy who got the ball. Mills was only looking right to freeze a defender long enough to give himself room to fit a ball in to his primary read.

I’m not saying that’s what happened here. But the Manning’s have me questioning every surface level call of a QB decision now.

Yep, if i’m the GM both of those guys are probably Lions. Also Greenard and Cunningham for Houston seem to be having good games, also Lions right now if I’m the GM.

I missed the boat on Burns. I was all over Brown and he was my preferred pick for us that year. He’s my kind of DT.

Totally agree.
They ran the motion across the formation on a dead sprint to catch the eye of the coverage… made it look like the primary option was the quick out towards the pylon… and Carolina jumped it.

At the snap… Mills never even turned towards that out route… his body was aligned towards Miller the whole time.

Here he is just prior to releasing the pass…

…Also… Aikman sucks donkey nuts!

That play by Darnold seeing a doomed play and throwing the ball away is something that hurts Teddy Bridgewater in the redzone…and one of the reasons why he doesn’t get alot of production out of RZ situations. Teddy has reached a point in his career that he prioritizes his completion percentage above all else. So he might take a sack instead of throwing it away or a risky pass attempt.
