Swift is probably really hurt. If so again we have some shit luck with round 2 picks.
It’s interesting to review this topic in retrospect even though it’s a moot point now.
I was somewhat interested in the Lions signing Gurley because 1) there is nothing beyond Swift and Williams and 2) it never hurts to add a little veteran talent to a young group.
In retrospect, I’m glad the Lions didn’t jump at signing Gurley. The Lions are at the beginning of a rebuild. The beginning of a rebuild is when you go young and search for new talent rather than going older.
I’d prefer Jefferson + Reynolds over Gurley this year. If either one of those guys can pan out and develop into a serviceable player in year 2 and beyond that’d be a huge win for the Lions.
That scenario is better than confirming Gurley is a veteran with a bum knee in a year where the Lions are destined to lose.
It’s all about the future for this team imo.
