Put an e on the end…

Don’t spice it up Dirt

He sounds like he would fit right in the Analzone.

So if I count correctly we’ve had visits with.
11-CB’s
8-WR’s
8-Edge
7-DT’s
4-S/DB
3-LB
3-OL
1-QB

That likely means Brad will draft a TE, RB, K, and LS

Technically we visited with 15 DB’s so that suggests to me that DB is our biggest need in the Staffs eyes.

We’ve also met with 15 DL if you count DT/Edge together.

What’s interesting to me is how few OL we’ve met with. I figured OL would definitely be high on our radar.

Safety is interesting too… most of us felt we needed one pretty bad for depth but only one Safety prospect we brought in was projected to go in the first 3 rounds. The rest were late round projections.

Difficult to say. Last year we only knew we met with 4 RBs, but RB was our first pick. Only 5 TEs (2 at local pro day). 12 OL. 10DL. Only 4 LBs outside of our local pro day.

I’m pretty sure we had zero contact with Jamo before the draft. So maybe they’re being coy with the Olinemen to not tip our hand. We still need a swing tackle and an interior guy with flexibility to future proof the line.

By the way @Jman, on Andru Phillips

Yeah he was the only one I remember who said we didn’t show interest, but that almost assuredly had everything to do with how secretive we needed to be re: the trade up.

I wonder if they’re doing VR meetings. Bet that’s how we met a Verse.

Brad could easily shock us, but with the poor showing physically/medically/testing Rakestraw had, I’d surmise the boys in Allen Park are conducting due diligence should Ennis fall to pick 61.

Agree 100%. Kool-Aid isn’t the type of overwhelming physical specimen who tests through the roof and amazes everyone. He just balls out every snap. He’s always right in his guy’s hip pocket. Exactly where he’s supposed to be. And he is a cool cat out there on an island. No panic no desperation no grabbing. He might lose one occasionally but he wins a heck of a lot more than he loses. I think he’ll be rock solid to the point where you just won’t hear much about him because his guy is constantly locked down. I believe if he’s there at 29 he’s the guy. And I believe he starts opposite Carlton Davis Week 1. He’s that solid. How many freshmen have started Day-1 for Saban at Alabama? Not too many.

From the Freep:

The Lions have loaded up on pre-draft visits with most of the top cornerbacks in this year’s class and are scheduled to host two more potential Day 2 picks at the position Thursday: Caelen Carson of Wake Forest and Nehemiah Pritchett of Auburn.

Already, the Lions hosted Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry and draft-eligible CFL cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers on visits. Alabama’s Terrion Arnold posted video on his Instagram page of a trip to the Lions’ Allen Park practice facility this week, Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell is eligible for a local visit and Missouri’s Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and Kentucky’s Dru Phillips also reportedly have visited the Lions.

Mitchell and Arnold are projected top-20 picks and expected to be the first two cornerbacks off the board, Rakestraw and McKinstry are likely top-50 choices and could interest the Lions with the 29th pick of the first round, and Phillips and Stiggers are projected to go in the middle rounds.
Michigan football slot cornerback Mike Sainristil, another potential Day 2 choice, also made a local visit to Detroit.

For those freaking out about the Lions being done at CB it doesn’t sound like they are.
From the same freep article in the last post.

The Lions traded for Carlton Davis and signed Amik Robertson in free agency, but released Cam Sutton, a 17-game starter last season, this spring.

ā€œCertainly there’s still some guys we’re still looking at in free agency that can bring in some competition,ā€ Campbell said at the NFL’s annual meeting last month. ā€œAnd that may or may not be done before the draft. I know that it brings up a little more urgency for another player, for sure, that can compete. But then as far as everything else goes, we’re ready to go into the draft and see if we can come away with something in there.ā€

We all expect the Lions to draft a CB.
Dan basically said they would and HoImes reminded everyone he has drafted a CB every year.
I think the concern is that many want Holmes to sign a plug and play vet starter (like Gilmore) instead of having to start little Amik Robertson or a rookie.
I think the good vet free agent cb’s are asking for a lot and waiting until after the draft to choose where they want to play.

Bullshit or no? ML football is one of those hack aggregators, but there’s no other mention of this, which is odd for an aggregator. Where did they aggregate it from? Sources? Anyway I thought it was worth a mention since I definitely think we’re gonna like Coleman.

So one of my favorite deep sleepers, Nick Gargiulo, the iOL from South Carolina by way of Yale, mentioned in an interview that he’d met with us on Zoom.

I’ll be putting out a deep sleeper post at some point (trying to keep it shorter than the last one lol), and he’ll be very prominent on it.

Personally, I loved your last post. It wasn’t an odious amount of information, yet contained a nice array of information. I thought you struck a great balance. That was an awesome article worthy of publication by any media outlet.
