Top Draft Evaluators

Yeah i remember the day that mock came out and i was stunned. In February that year i thought he would be taken #1OA… then a few days before the draft Rick mocks him to us. I was shocked because i had never considered him falling all the way to #13. Rick had inside knowledge that his attitude and work ethic had turned off a lot of teams…and that we were the highest drafting team willing to take that risk. We got like 1 good season out of him so in hindsight it was a mistake.

No turds.

I like DJ as far as nationally. Locally, I like Erik Schlitt. He caters his analysis to the Lions as far as fits for culture, scheme, etc.

Yeah I remember that draft. I was really big on wanting Robert Quinn and that incredible bend he has around the edge. Suh drawing double teams with Quinn getting one-on-one matchups. What could’ve been.

I wanted Quinn too! His knee issues scarred some. He definitely had the better career.

If you have Twitter is there any follows you recommend? Scouting and draft talk etc, other then the big well known accounts

As long as it’s not Will Robinson the Pistons old scout. He did us the dirtiest.

Yeah I have a lot, including the twitter accounts of those podcasters I listed earlier, there’s also Mike Renner, Ben Fennell, Emory Hunt, Jim Nagy (Senior Bowl director), Jordan Reid, Matt Waldman, Eric Galko (Shrine Bowl director), Brett Kollmann, Joe Marino, Eric Crocker, Keith Sanchez, Cory Kinnan and Ryan Fowler, to name a few.

Clutch, you always come through :100:

I find that DJ is the most informative and he was actually a real scout. I can tell you one I don’t. like at all is Todd McShay. I still remember him pounding the table for the QB from Kentucky saying he will be a top overall pick. I think the Giants drafted the kid in the 5th round. The parents wanted to sue McShay because they wanted the kid to stay in school but he came out early because Todd said he was a top 5 pick. I think the following year they came out with the draft advisory panel to give the kids an idea of where they would be drafted.

Some guys are about the ratings and some are about the talent.

DJ has nothing to prove because he’s a legit pro. That’s liberating in an industry full of cling-ons.

That said, if he doesn’t stop mocking 1st round TEs to us he’s going to be in my McShay list.
