Toxic Lions Fans Bothered Josh Reynolds? Did fans take it too far online criticizing Reynolds?

While I agree with you and your premise, there would be no ridicule if he would have only caught the balls in the Championship game. :smiling_imp:

And I am totally assuming that the Lions offered less but to me it’s better off than not

Is this isolated to Detroit? Most players say we have the best fans and it’s unlike anywhere else… even chanting Jared Goff at other stadiums is wild to me.

Not to say it’s not messed up. But is that something unique to our fans? Weren’t the fans booing Russel wilson and giving him all sorts of hell?

For sure, 100% agree of all of this. Still sucks, and hard to blame a person for reacting to it. I think the change of scenery is a fresh start where those fans aren’t focused on THE DROP. I believe the toxic fans are a minority. But if you have 100-200 interactions that are toxic it can feel like more.

I just shocked about the abuse for Craig Reynolds. Dude is a warrior and a gritty gritty journeyman. Why anyone would attack that guy is beyond me. He is one of those players I pull for every game. He is just grinding it out day by day. Living in the moment. Besides him talking to his brother on the Ipad, I am not sure he I have ever even heard him speak. He just goes about his business in a quiet professional manner.

Its not isolated to detroit and its not a big faction of detroit i dont believe. There are toxic people everywhere in life. Sports are no different. Fan bases have toxic sub groups to them. This is not isolated to Detroit.

Sports figures saying they have the best fans in the world is not an ucommon statement. In the case of detroit and how we have embraced the lions and goff it is easy to see why Goff would say that.

To me it looks like a 1 year prove-it deal for 3.25 million, 1 million signing bonus and 2.245 million for the 1 year and nothing guaranteed after that.

It’s a $9M/2yr with a $2M signing bonus and base salaries of $2,245,000 (2024) and $3,990,000 (2025) plus per game roster bonuses totaling $255,000 (2024) and $510,000 (2025).

So you can call it a 1yr prove it deal for $4.5M ($2M SB + $2,445,000 + $255,000).

You are right except the signing bonus is $2M so the guarantee is $4.245M.

Ah, ok. Spotrac split the bonus between the 2 years so it looked like only 1 million was guaranteed.

I dont think this word toxic means what you think it means… we have plenty of toxic fans. Plenty right here on this board.

Yep, pretty much agree with all you’ve written here and in the thread. I don’t think DPJ can replace Josh, different skills and I wasn’t at all impressed with DPJ in 2023.

I hope they can get someone better than that.

Anyway, where he’s gone, there’s little chance that Reynolds has to worry about blowing any catches in a conference championship, so he’s got that going for him. :smirk:

I was more concerned about his response to the media than the drops. He did well for us but had a few really bad drops in the playoff game. His response to a reporter of “shit happens” was not what I wanted to hear. How about Yeah - I wish I had those plays back. They definitely hurt. But “shit happens” not a good look in my book.

As Sid11 used to say, it’s not the compound, it’s the dose that makes it toxic…

DPJ was fine on the outside in 2022. He and Brissett had a nice connection. He was particularly good on in breakers but while also having more of a vertical element. They’ll add one more guy on the outside in this draft. As long as St. stays healthy we’ll be fine at WR.

Most toxic place in this world? YouTube comments. Josh shouldn’t read his YouTube comments.

After some thought, he should be glad he didn’t have to put up with the shit Goff has had to.
Not that he’s wrong. Some of our “fans” are ridiculous.
Sad to say, he’s probably going to regret this decision after the butthurt subsides. He had a lot of fans that supported him, too!
I guess we don’t count.

I honestly thought fans were making tooo huge a deal of him laughing on the sidelines after his drops and then I saw the interview and wanted nothing to do with him.

I think DC and the leaders in the team probably felt the same way.

He didn’t even say I have to make those plays. He said WE just gotta make those plays. Which is (obvious but) just a horrible and a weak thing to say given the circumstances.
