CB/PR Georgia transfer to Miami U 6’0 200 Looks like Antrell Rolle to me
Anybody else care to elaborate on this guy who knows more about him than me?
Looks like a Dawg like Spoon

There are so many good CBs that will go round 2 or 3 I hate taking one in round 1
Insane amounts this year, unbelievable. I honestly think we should take 2 or 3.
Let’s hope there is a run on them early…
pushing down some guys we need in round 2.
I really like Stevenson, I draft him all the time in the sims. But I also have a hunch he might go late first.
Everything I listen to or read about is versatility centric when talking about DBs. If GMs are feeling the same way that will be good for Stevenson.
This will be an interesting draft…
because there are so many good CBs… we could see an insane run on them… or we could see some slide because of the glut.
also interesting with only 31 picks in 1st round and 5 teams have more than 1 pick in round 1…. so that may throw a few things off as well…
I agree I like Stevenson a lot more than some of the other CBs in that 2nd tier. He seems to do everything well. I saw him 5 or 6 times and then at the Senior Bowl. He plays press man, he tackles , he plays the ball, I like him. I just watch the games so I’m not sure how his RAS score or the other analytics stack up but he passes my eye test.
Here is the RAS score…,
.
.
I would also say that the “tiers” or rankings we have so far are just estimates by guys that may have sone background in the league…
but the teams may have a guy like Stephenson rated much higher.
I would take him over Ringo for example… who is a guy the media pundits have pumped for quite a while now.
makes it kind of curios with all the CB talent coming out this year why Brad spent soo much of his FA resources in that spot.
I see the 1st tier as Spoon, Gonzo, Porter, and Banks. I see Stevenson as the top of that next group of 7 or 8 CBs that could go in the 2nd round.
Could be a little bit of both. See some slide then you start see the run on them happen…that’s when you gotta trade up to get you guy
To me, basically first year cbs take a good year or more to really develop to the NFL game. Yes, there are always a few outliers.
He got guys who are already pro cbs. This gives us the opportunity to be playoff ready this year and compete.
I still think he’ll draft secondary help to develop as we have no idea what guys will be here after next year ends.
Genuinely curious, why do a lot of people on this board tend to have this stance?
My opinion CB you can either do it or you can’t. It doesn’t require a ton mentally. If you have the athletic skillset it is arguably one of the easiest positions out there to make the transition one level to the next. See guy, cover guy in it’s most basic terms
Often it’s the guys that don’t have the athletic ability that are unable to do it. If you’re athletic enough it’s a position you can & should have success playing fairly early in your career
I agree being athletic plays a huge factor into playing corner, but cognitive abilities to me are just as important in being a great/good corner. Every corner who makes it into rhe NFL has athleticism. It’s being able to learn the needed skillsets, read the offensive, that seperates the average guys who are athletic from the top cbs in the league. RIichard Sherman is an example. Not superior speed, but intelligent and had incredible techniques. He had that dog in him to be the best.
Good counter point. Play speed/mental processing matter. CB is in my opinion the hardest position to evaluate. The athletic ability part is easy. The mental processing is difficult. These guys are hardly involved in more than 15-25% of the plays throughout a game.
If a guy has the athletic ability & the mental processing he can play early & be successful. Now good luck to anyone trying to eval Mental Processing at that position. I think D Witherspoon has it in spades, hence why I am high on him & believe he will be successful early.
Regarding Richard Sherman I would view him as an outlier the way he found success as a player
And then even with the best guys play is often so up and down year to year.
I’m also a big fan of Witherspoon. Seems to have it all and he’s tough. Got some dog in him.
Kei’Trel Clark is the most underrated CB in the draft IMO. Not as physical as Witherspoon but that level of sticky and I think he’s a more natural playmaker. For whatever reason he’s been deemed slot only despite being the same weight and 1 inch shorter than Spoon I think MathBomb has Clark’s ten yard wrong. 1.49 according to NFL.com’s combine results page.
Clark is certainly a baller and he plays with no fear. I had to check his size after reading your post because he looked much smaller in the games I watched. I would have guessed his weight at about 170 but he is 181. He is a feisty playmaker and he will tackle.
