The word was out on Gladney’s character issues before the draft.

Wow that’s your 1st rounder??? Damn.

Gotta love Wikipedia’s page for Gladney right now:

What does Lexington Steele have to do with this?

Dalvin Cook turned out ok, so red flags and character concerns with every other guy will suddenly disappear with a move to Minnesota.

From Albert Breer shortly after the draft:

Brian Baldinger in response to a panel question–Which prospect is everyone wrong about?

BRIAN BALDINGER: Everyone is talking about the offensive players in this draft, but I’m looking to the defense. TCU cornerback Jeff Gladney’s stock is down because he is 5-foot-10, but there is nothing he can’t do. And he’s been doing it for years. He can win at all three levels and had no fear about going up against the best in the Big 12 every week. He is the second-best cornerback in this class behind Ohio State’s Jeff Okudah.

That didn’t age well.

Here was an argument as to why the writer thought he shouldn’t have been a 1st Round pick (mostly football related):

Wasn’t a big part of Dalvin’s character concerns simply that hung out with some unsavory characters from the neighborhood he grew up in? He was found innocent of the battery charge he was accused of. Jumbo Fisher swore by him as a person. I don’t think there was much there there with Cook.
