Walker now #1?

Just shows how much can change and how much nobody real knows how this draft will play out.
Money is now on Walker as #1 OA

It would be awesome to see Jax take Walker.

This was posted to another thread but probably warrants it’s thread. But it feels like something leaked.

Walker’s odds went from +150 to -200 Sunday night at Caesars Sportsbook, with Hutchinson falling from -170 to +160. During a 12-hour span beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET Sunday, 36% of the money bet on all NFL-related options at Caesars Sportsbook was either “pro-Walker or anti-Hutchinson,” according to Max Meyer, a spokesperson for Caesars.

Maybe smarter gambling peeps can enlighten but this seems odd.

Man, that certainly looks like those with insider info trying to cash in.

Does Peter King have that much influence on the public? He published his MMQB mock about that time.

Agree not sure how he went from +150 to -200 and in that 12 hour span 36% of the money was directed towards it in some way. If you think of this like the stock market, then you are right, something leaked that drove this. Now the leak may be bogus but some people seem to think they know something.
Be interesting on Thursday night if this is verified

I doubt it, probably he is using the same source as the guys betting on it.

@Nate, yea I posted this in the Jag Leak thread but thought it could be it’s own thread. Hope that is OK

If this does happen a lot of posters gonna be big mad when the Lions take Thibs over Hutch.

I prefer Hutch but wouldn’t be mad with Thibs at all!

I think Holmes loves him some Thibs and Campbell would prefer Hutch but Holmes has final say.

I could be way wrong though as well :man_shrugging:t2:

I’m kinda wondering the same thing. The Lions have dug deep into Thibs. I’m curious… if push comes to shove and Walker goes #1… which one of the edge rushers do the Lions take? Do they like Hutch better than KT? Very interesting

Only about 76 hours until we know

Thursday night can’t get here soon enough. The rumors and smokescreens are exhausting at this point.

I’m with you–I like Hutch if he’s there because I think he has fewer question marks, but IMO Thibs has a higher ceiling, so if the Lions like him more, I’m totally good with it.

That said, Holmes does not have final say. They all bend over backwards to talk about how it’s a team approach to these decisions, but if all else is equal and there’s a disagreement, Campbell has final say, not Holmes.

And they’re moving me around.

I’m going to do a 2nd edit of my official mock draft tomorrow if I don’t come to my senses by then… Mainly, I’m buying into the Walker to the Jags rumors and Nakobe Dean health risks. If you want any outsider information, I got it. :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

100% yes to all of this.

Wow-I didn’t know that. Knew about the team approach, but I would have thought Fox…errr…I mean Holmes would have had final say

I think Hutch has the higher upside but Thibs has the higher malapropism, so it all depends on what they’re looking for.

Trying to find backup for this and am struggling at the moment… The Lions never even published contract details for either Campbell or Holmes, but I believe Campbell has the bigger financial commitment, and that one of them actually said explicitly last year, in one of their interviews, that Campbell is ultimately the top guy in the front office.

Not sure how you know that for sure? If there is a disagreement and they cannot come to a decision you would think the GM makes the call? The way they seem talk about the collaborative approach though, I wouldn’t think Holmes would overrule others. If it came down to Campbell and Holmes wanting separate players I would think they would hold an internal vote on those players to resolve it, but who knows?

It depends on the organization. In some, the GM functions more like head scout, with the coach having final say. In others, the coach is hired (and reports to) the GM. That latter is not the structure of the Lions front office. If anything, Rod Wood has final say, and Brad and Dan both report up to him. But while I can’t find the quote to back it up, I’m sure I head them confirm this last year after the hire.
