He lamented that play call in the post game presser.
I don’t think that was the original play call, I believe Goff checked into it… Dan said he felt like it didn’t give them much of a chance
If our defence is handling their offence well then we need to just take any points we can get instead of gambling on 4th.
I took that to mean he didn’t like the playcall.

Gibbs is feast or famine. Monty falls forward. I would choose Monty over Gibbs for that play every time. I don’t get the love of Gibbs up the middle. While he sometimes breaks, it is a riskier strategy.
We had a better oline in past years so both running and passing plays were more reliable. I don’t think you can play the same game with a leaky oline.
Even so, I would have Monty out there. He falls forward and is better at that particular job.

.
Unfortunately…. That’s a BIG “if” in recent weeks.
He laments going for it in the pressers too. But this does not seem to impact his philosophy. Again, I don’t mind it in general, but I would like to see more nuance.
To be honest, I get more bothered by the misuse of clock then I do the aggression calls. 9/10 times the analytics are within range of a coin flip. But the amount of extra possessions per season that we give up bc we play for the perfect script.
It actually reminds me of Brad and his targeted trade ups. They both probably try and micromanage the pursuit of the perfect scenario a bit too much. I think both are rigid in certain elements of their process.
But ultimately they’re both mostly awesome and we’re lucky to have them.
To say that going for it on 4th down is all about execution is overly simplifying ingame decision making. If thats the case why would anyone ever punt? No OC calls a play thinking that it’ll be poorly executed and they all think they have a perfect play for every situation.

No. I think you are misunderstanding the argument. Within this new NFL Overton window of 4th down aggression, what games often come down to is how well each team executes on those high leverage downs.
Dan changed the way the game is coached/played.
I agree with this assessment! You take the good with the not so good as that is life : )
I took that to mean he didn’t like the playcall.
I agree, pretty sure Goff checked out of the called play into a run… I read that somewhere, will have to find the video to verify
Only a fool blindly goes for it on every 4th down.
I pity the fool that says that to Dan’s face.![]()
