We made it. The refs now favor the Detroit Lions

Colton Pouncey mentioned this, Grossi poked fun at it during his video, and I think it warrants its own thread here. Why? Because … man, the amount of pixels spent on this forum blaming the officials for favoring the Green Bay Packers over the years.

And now, we live in an era where Packer fans everywhere are claiming the opposite is the case.

What. A. Time. To. Be. Alive.

Yep no doubt now. We are the team. Conspiracy theorists, referees, and bettors unite! As Dan said, “destiny”. It’s great we are alive to see it. We are the next Pats? I think so if we win it all this year. The Chiefs had their run.

Oh, bull.
The NFL ref’s are just as incompetent today as they’ve always been.
We’re just the new darlings.

They had the same amount of flags. Make it make sense.

Refs didn’t favor the Lions, the Lions were just the better team.

Losers reflexively lament the role of the refs and Green Bay not only lost last night but has now lost what 6 of 7 to Detroit.

Signed, die-hard Packer fan (who wants the LIons to in the SB this year).

Is this directed towards me?

I would 100X rather see our players, our team, our staff, our HC, do everything on their own talent, wisdom, skill , ability…than to ever be helped along by anybody-else and make it …that is far more special.

When you’ve been oppressed and abused for 50 years being treated fairly feels like favoritism.

Also

When people get used to preferential treatment, equal treatment seems like discrimination.

Referees have to make split second decisions all the time.

Its only natural for them to be prone to call these decisions for the better team.

Or in Dallas’s and Green Bay’s case, the team that they grew up cheering for.

Therapy

I believe 100% that if you need the calls to go your way to win you are just not good enough.

The plays you need to win are available the question is are you good enough to make them?

You 100% control your destiny on this subject.

Refs to not steal games or give games to teams. And just because you can point to a call that did that just means you have chosen to ignore the 5-10 plays your team squandered.

Neither the Samkon Gado nor Pettigrew-Hitchens play were of that variety.

we still had some god awful missed calls go the Packers way this past game. Lucky we didn’t lose an offensive linemen when a Packer came in after the play and decided he wanted a gd piggy back ride

I picked up a packer fan yesterday. We started talking and he mentioned refs and i said oh really? The refs cost you the game? After all the favoritism in previous games vs lions. Ok lets hear it. He brings up goff was down on the final play. I mentioned that if it was college he would be correct. But in the nfl they can get up if not touched by defense player while down. How many times a wr catches a ball untouched and then gets up and runs. Man it just shut him up. He didnt say a word the rest of the trip.

Look up Jerry Bergman, tried and true Dallas fan. Perhaps Morelli too.

And for gado, the Lions and Packers had about the same record (2005). Every other year in the naughts, the packers were better than the Lions. The Packers were certainly perceived as the better overall team, Im not saying they make calls based on their precise record at the moment in time. The Lions were a bumbling franchise from 2000-2009 for sure, its only natural that calls will go against them.

I was referring only to the “Referees have to make split second decisions all the time.” In both cases, the refs took several minutes before screwing the Lions.

I’ve got zero problem calling the refs out when they clearly screw over a team.

That being said, this is not at all what is happening with Fudgie fans right now. They are whining because a flag wasn’t thrown to bail them out on a bang-bang, run-of-the-mill football play. A play that 95% of the time doesn’t draw a flag, and would (wrongly, IMO) draw a defensive penalty on the other 5%.

This is the type of bitching that is loser talk.

Yes, Lions fans have done some of this over the years, but I absolutely refuse to put it in the same bucket as when we’ve complained about the legit screw jobs. The supposed “push off” is not in the same universe as the Gado fiasco, the facemask that wasn’t, having defensive penalties assessed against our offense, etc.

The false equivalence needs to be called out as wrong, because it is undeniably so.

When we win a game on some terrible bullshit call right at the end then maybe the Packers can say something…

For example Lions down 6, Goff intercepted to end the game in the endzone, but wait there is a very late flag, all the Packers are on the field celebrating, the coach is soaked from the gatorade already. But wait. The refs are huddled together talking… “There was an imaginary whistle before the play, you couldn’t hear it because it was imaginary. The interception does not count, we must replay the down”

Next play, Goff to St. Brown TD, Lions win by 1

Then they can complain and only then.

I say Horsepuckey , same refs…proof-look how they kept putting the Bears up to the endzone at least three times-that game, penalizing us.
