I have been in 3 so far this year which is crazy.

I feel like it has been a decade since I was in one.

Weird weather this year. Zany Spring/Summer

Edit:
My wife goes fully Wizard of Oz and demands everyone runs (do not walk…) to the basement. The rest of us clearly do not appreciate the urgency or the possible impending doom that a tornado presents. She calls my FIL every time who lives a mile from us and his comment is always ā€œhoney if it is my time it is my timeā€ā€¦

Most people don’t realize that tornado sirens go off for an entire county… My county is almost 900 square miles and a tornado may only affect a mile or two of that area. Irrational panic and hysteria is real for some people… I can’t imagine being that anxious or concerned about it

Cell phone warnings on the other hand are much more targeted. A couple weeks ago sirens were going off, but no phone warning. Found out later those are more tightly tailored. (Or so we were told).

So when I got both last night (standing on front porch watching) I meandered to the basement.

Just in case.

Well to be fair. My wife is also convince that if there is salt in the water that there is also a Shark waiting to eat her. It is funny because she is mostly fearless until she is not. She is Italian so I guess I did not realize that her settings are set at the extreme in what ever direction she is headed/feeling. And she can switch directions quickly.

I have to admit while I feel like the chances are crazy small that I get impacted, but I have also watched enough videos of tornadoes to have respect put on their name.

I am also torn by extreme curiosity to see one fairly up close but also not a fan of being torn in half or thrown into a tree at 100 MPH. It is a balancing act. Ideally I get to watch one go over a barren field far enough away that I will not get hit with anything but close enough to physically ā€œfeelā€ the energy. The videos are insane.

We used to get a lot here but tornado ally moved. I remember being in the garage and watching a tornado form in my backyard. It did a lot of damage 8 miles east of my house.

Had one go thru our development. Top half of the trampoline went into the fairway, bottom went the opposite direction. Propane tank from my grill hit the front quarter panel of my car while the rest of the grill flipped over the top of the car. I was making a drink in the kitchen watching all this and suddenly my ears popped big time, it sucked our cover for the attic entrance up into the attic. Two neighbors had most of their insulation sucked out thru their soffits, it looked like cotton candy pasted on my house. Wife and kids were in the basement and were unaware of the upstairs activity yelling something about thinning the herd. Eh, the good old days.

I swear the movie Jaws traumatized a lot of people.

As an Italian, dating an Italian… I know these extremes all too well :joy:

I live seaside and never give a second thought about sharks lol. They do get surfers very rarely, but me swimming near shore? Cmon. Stingray maybe.

Boyd is right it’s the Jawa effect.
