What are your Lions expectation for this year? Poll

The Lions have went 9-8, 12-5, and 15-2 the last 3 seasons under Dan.

Last year most Lions fans had an expectation of Super Bowl or bust. Our fan base traveled more than any team I have ever seen in my lifetime.

But this year, when I talk to friends, family, and other fans about going to travel games…the enthusiasm is down from last year. The expectations are also down. Most think that the Super Bowl is possible but unlikely this year. They are mixed on if the Lions can even win the division. Most are expecting the Lions to decline, or take a step back this season.

With all the coaching changes, and how poorly the Lions played in the playoffs…. Most fans expectations are lower than last offseason.

Inquiring minds want to know what the Den members think. What are your expectations?

Be honest and realistic with your choices. I’d like an honest poll more so than an optimistic poll.

  • Super Bowl or Bust Baby!
  • Win the division with 14 or more wins.
  • Win the division with 12 or more wins.
  • Finish 2nd in the division with 10 or more wins.
  • Finish 3rd in the division.
  • Finish last in the division. Let’s talk the draft now.

Personally I like our chances to win the division and make a Super Bowl run. I think we’re as gifted a team as any team in the NFL. I think the Lions have a better team than last year at this time. I am expecting some growing pains with the new coaches but I’m not expecting a major decline in wins. I also think 15 wins is unlikely. I still think we will win the division with 12 or more wins.

Third time’s a charm.

NFCCG in '23 and should have won it.

15-2 in '24 and then bust in the playoffs with an injury asterisk*

'25? I don’t care if they make the playoffs with wildcard bid, they’ve had a top 3 roster for a few years now, time to get to the promised land. I won’t be happy at all with anything less.

I do think this is realistic. Teams break through after they’ve had heartbreaks and couldn’t quite get there. I expect this to be the year for us.

I put second in the division with 10 or more wins because of our tough schedule.
But its a wild card that goes to the SB also because of our tough schedule. We will be steeled and ready to kick some ass and take some names entering the playoffs.

Win the division and SB run.
Also realistic to know that getting to the SB takes skill talent and luck which killed us last year, 2 out of 3 won’t get you there.

Fun season, win the division and anything can happen from there.

I expect the Lions are going to regress in terms of regular season wins. I don’t think the Lions will have a worse team necessarily even though the win total will reflect that. Lions are going to have a very tough road schedule. A lot of things have to go right to have 15 wins and i just don’t see it happening again. I expect 10-12 wins and to compete for a Super Bowl.

I’d like to see our schedule 1st. How many outside games in Dec.? When is our Bye week?
My initial guess is 11-13 wins, Will this win the division? I hope so!

I’d have to imagine that the schedule makers gotta have the Lions actually have to play a roadie in week 18. Maybe 3 of the last 4 games on the road in GB, Philly and Chi…that would be brutal.

My answer wasn’t on the poll- I think we win more than 10 games and win the Division and at least one playoff game.

Lions x 2
Vikings x 2
Bears x 2
Ravens
Steelers
Eagles
Commanders
Broncos
Bengals
Cowboys

You all think the packers win more than half of these? They still have some other games that can be sneaky- if they go 7-6 here they cap out at 11-6

Lions x 2
Packers x 2
Bears x 2
Ravens
Bengals
Eagles
Commanders
Falcons
Steelers
Chargers
Seahawks
Cowboys

  • that’s 15 games the Vikes could lose- and I see 9-6 as a best case… maybe 7-8….

The Eagles by comparison get…

Commanders x 2
Dallas x 2
Chiefs
Lions
Bills
Rams
Bucs
Chargers
Packers
Vikings

Thats 13 tough games…. The recency bias of how good they were last year will make them seem like favorites in most of these right now, and this 13-4 seems doable. I think 12-5 is their ceiling. They also have to replace their OC… and hope Hurts, Barkley and Brown stay healthy.

They also have a lot of turnover in their front 7.

I like the Vikings to win the division and us to be the top WC and be the SB favorite over them. The Vikings road schedule is laughable.

Their road schedule is exactly the opposite of ours and they get the harder teams at home. I do think that we had Darnold figured out. JJ will be better than him.

I think we are the better team and will show that once the playoffs start if we stay healthy. Our road schedule is brutal.

All fair points.

I can’t see JJ being better… not in 2025 at least. Yes we had Darnolds number, but with his 102.5 rated 35 TD season, we aren’t even talking about them.

They played a weak ass schedule and their D started to regress as the season carried on. 6 of last 7 opponents scored over their season average. Overall they finished 5th in points allowed but if you took the average points against over their last, and average for a season- they would have finished 18 not 5….

I don’t see them rushing for 12 tds nor passing for more than 26.

Last year they hit 9 and 35…. Tougher schedule, 22 year old QB, and you see what Stroud, Young and Caleb did in their first 5 combined seasons.

What Jayden did doesn’t happen.

Agreed on the points. I am not sure JJ needs a 102.

Vikings Road Schedule outside of division:

Dallas
Giants
Browns
Chargers
Pittsburgh
Seattle

Compared to ours:
Washington
Philly
Cinci
Baltimore
KC
Rams

What in the actual F$&$ ??

This is one of the things I always point out when debating with Packers and Vikings fans claiming that we virtually the same schedule (common opponents) minus 2 games. This is not true based on home and away matchups. I would much rather be playing Balt, Philly, Wash, Cincy at home than on the road. But in that vein, I expect the Lions to flirt with another perfect home season because of the matchups they have.

I voted 12 wins and win the division, that should be the expectation now and going forward.
SB win takes a lot of things to happen right, goal should be a SB win, but expectation should be win the division and secure a #1 or 2 seed

Im in between 10- 12 wins.

I think 12 wins is the ceiling for us and would be the best possible outcome. I think less than that but I think we eek out a division again but it’ll be tough. chicago will be harder, green bay is always a pita. I think minny takes a step back, rookie qb, etc. but they’ll still be over 500. we’ll have the best division in football.

This is something I could see too. Those wild card runs to the SB are always fun as hell too.

First things first. Win division and get a home game. The tournament is somewhat of a crapshoot, regardless of the destiny narratives that congeal around Super Bowl winners.

That’s where I am at as well.

The regular season is cute. But for once in my life all I care about is winning in the playoffs. We used to be excited just to have a winning record. Not anymore. Expectations are high.

I agree. Just make the tourney. Everything that happens before then is just storytelling for later.
