What the F is Happening with the Edge and DT Groups?!

S I get but damn if lions are going to fill holes with draft picks, then it sounds like rebuilding to me.

I hope that’s not the plan I’m just expressing how much more important who we bring in on the DLine is. IMO anyway…

I still think there will.be a trade sooner then later.

I’m so annoyed watching edges come off the board that I’m about to jump on the Crosby bandwagon lol. I’ve been against that from the start but man I’m on the verge of a panic attack

Yeah I just dont understand the game plan at all. If they had 5 picks in the top 100 I think we can be little bit more conservative, but lions have to picks in the top 100.

The DTs are fine. Tyleek popped at the end of the year as do Wingo. Usually takes the season after an ACL to get back right so I’m not too worried about Alim

The edges though? Yeah I need more in quality and volume. Even if you magically dropped Maxx Crosby on this team we still need more than two guys

I actually thought the opposite. Thought Tyleek played well in the middle of the season and then tampered off at the end (First long season for him). Wingo…meh, depth as a 3rd option IMO

I saw a great comment and I can’t remember who it was, but it was in the spirit of:

“The Lions are going to certainly lose when they play tomorrow.”

We’re going to roll out the hot new 2 rush 9 secondary defense. The league isn’t ready for this…

well, as many players as we lost over FA, and as many holes we have including both lines -yet, it is “like” rebuilding. I have no faith that we can fill ALL the spots in one offseason. I think we as a team , took a step , maybe a step and a half backwards losing what we have. I’ll end this by saying-we have some heavy-lifting to do this offseason the rest of the way, and I’m not real hyped about the draft prospects this year.

I hope so because there’s a lot of holes on that defensive line in particular and the Lions still don’t have a starting tackle opposite of Hutch so with only two top 100 picks I’m not sure how all these gaps will be filled if not much is done in free agency. They also lost depth at corner, linebacker, downgraded at running back and have big questions at safety.

More playing time and he gets to go home. I’m guessing we didn’t get much of a choice here.

Corner depth looks a bit better after bringing back Rock and signing Izien, who is likely gonna play nickel.

Reed
Arnold
Rock
Izien
Rakestraw

That group aint great but it could be decent if we address the dline and improve the pass rush.

Rakestraw is like Paschal or Levi to me, I’ll just assumed he’ll be injured until he plays some games. Another talented guy that just can’t get on the field for long. As of now, it’s Amik out and nobody in with Rock just being a re-signing and an important one at that. Lets hope that Rakestraw can buck the trend and stay healthy.

It’s just weird seeing a Lions roster with a plethora of question marks after we’ve seen deep rosters with an abundance of riches the last 2 seasons in particular. The price for success I suppose and so many injuries on the regular.

I don’t mind the group actually. I’d like to see Maddox brought back and I’m good with the secondary group headed to the draft. A couple picks designated for the secondary. Cisco is my top guy, but a maddox ruining works.

I wouldn’t be surprised, as of now, if Izien isn’t starting at a safety spot to begin the year, depending on Kerby’s health.

Yea very possible. Although I’ve read his best play has come at nickel and has played most of his career snaps there. We definitely need another safety yet.

Yeah, maybe, but having Harper-Izien tandem backing up Kerby-Branch isn’t terrible. It’s just hard to know how bad it is with the health concerns with both our starts. Much better now that we’ve resigned Ya-Sin

Yea the injuries are the elephant in the entire secondary room.

Arnold is coming off 2 shoulder surgeries. DJ Reed was injured most of last year. Kerby and Branch who knows what we get? If anything. That’s 4 starters and each one has question marks.

It’s unreal how every year the secondary gets decimated with injuries.
