The Skubal equivalent would be like Patrick Mahomes. The best there is at the most important position. Only Mahomes gets to play every game, hence the limitation of Skubal.

Skubal would pitch
Game 1 of DS
Game 1 & 5 of LS
Game 1 & 5 of WS
And only go 7 innings each.
Meaning Skubal would only be on the mound for 26% of defense innings.
What about the other 74% of pitchers? What about 100% of the offense?
So what about the other 87% of half innings in the playoffs??
They have the money but I don’t think they spend it.
I expect them to trade him but I hope I’m wrong.
Skubal should bring two Top 100 prospects, including one elite MLB ready bat, plus a high upside piece.
Think of the Luis Castillo trade or Blake Snell trade as a possibility… but Skubal might be even more valuable because of age and control.

Starting pitchers are hard to find for sure.
I just don’t think the Tigers are committed to spending the money it takes to win it all. Which makes me think they won’t bring him back.
I just hope they can get some young, strong players as part of the trade.
