What's your opinion of what a backup QB should be?

We could always pull Stoney Case off the couch and see what he’s got left in the tank. The Eagles cut Jamie Newman. If we pick him up it would allow us to say “Hello Newman.”

Ideally, you want Farves Rogers, or Montana’s Young, or Bledsoes Brady!

LOL - I like your thinking!

After thinking about I want a backup QB that never plays…

Unless the starter is Scott Mitchell.

Or Stoney Case…

I’ll just say that seriously Shaun Hill was one of the best backups any team could hope for. Outside of the outliers like Kurt Warner, even Cassell was only good as a backup. Shaun Hill. One of the best ever

Yeah, Shaun Hill was one of the better ones we’ve had, most definitely.

I’m probably showing my age, but I thought the ideal backup quarterback is the one who tells the cops that it’s his weed when they get pulled over.

We’ve had some great backup QBs in Detroit. Problem is, most of 'em were starting. LOL. #truth

Rodney Pete
Scott Mitchell
Chuck Long
many more…

Joking aside, I’d like to have a Stanton-type. Knows the system, has mobility that is an added dimension, should he actually have to take the field. Likes it here and wants to stay. I feel multiple year backup is helpful - timing down, know the system, chemistry w/WRs, OL know approximately what they can expect from him, and what they can trust him to do…and vice versa.

We needed to clone Shaun Hill when we had the chance.

I’d have settled for Majik Man or Bill Munson as well.
