Who gets paid on this team going forward?

We pay all 4 of the Golden Draft, though how we do it is by giving Branch and LaPorta a little below market and shorter term due to injuries. They may want that to get to 3rd deal quicker?

The rest of this team so far I dont see anyine else getting paid a 2nd deal at market. Either it’s too early to tell or we already are at No.

3rd deal No to Barnes and Kerby, maybe to Alim, rest get extended, including Goff, but maybe a 2 year tack on for him. Longer for Hutch Jamo Ra Sewell.

Am I the only one who thinks maybe paying big money to four offensive weapons on the same team isn’t the best way to manage your cap space?

LaPorta is great, but I don’t know if giving him big money with St. Brown, Jamo, and Gibbs is the best idea since he’s coming off a back injury anyway.

And, is paying two safeties big money a good idea either? Branch first has to prove that he can be the same type of player again, which will take a couple of years, and then maybe he gets his money.

I think we all saw this coming and honestly it tends to work itself out.

1 of the 4 IMO doesn’t play beyond 4 years. The league averages tell us that.

Right now I am not sure if LaPorta or BB make it 5 years. Back issues are funky and unpredictable. And we all know a torn Achilles is a tough one to come back from.

Branch will definitely be back imo!

They wouldn’t franchise him until he’s come back and showed that he’s fine. 2027.

Short and intermediate passing game between the numbers is where Goff makes his money, TEs are extremely important to our offense.

I think all four get extended, there’s cap room in 2027 for them all.

I also think LaPorta gets extended…

La Porta’s injury scares me. If he was walking like a 90 year old man, then he’s most likely had to add some hardware to his back. Have guys played with back fusions? Idk.
Levi O. had back issues, Teven Jenkins the OG from Oklahoma State that the Bears in like 2021 had back issues and seems to be ok…but these are also linemen that aren’t flying around and getting gang-tackled.

Personally, I hope the Lions draft a Tight End this year as an insurance plan.

Jack and Gibbs get paid contracts similar in structure to all the other stars.

If Sam bounces back, he’ll get paid but probably not until mid season or next summer at best.

God bless Brian Branch but I don’t think he plays well enough to where we care about his contract. Then again we have two NBA players who tore Achilles and look better than ever less than a year later so maybe there’s been advances in that space

Also Jadarian Price is back to his best at a position of cuts and jukes after tearing his in 2022

Well said….

I’m not extending ANYONE yet…. First off Laporta hasn’t shown that prime Kelce, Graham, Gronk, Gonzo, Gates, or Kittle level juice in the offense. Great kid, really really solid player…. Not transcendent.

I’d pay Gibbs, but wait til week 4-5… how does the offense look, how does he look without Monty- if it all jives give him 3 years 63M extension.

Campbell has had a rough year, okay year, and great year. I’d also wait til mid season to extend as long as he still looks like the captain and leader with all pro chops.

at year end we are either cutting Kerby for never being the same, and franchising Branch to prove he’s back… or Kerby looks great and Branch gets a prove deal or walks.

Laporta gets us a comp pick, take a hometown discount, or maybe tag and or trade.

I think Laporta is closer to Hockenson, Goedert, Hunter Henry (although he’s better) than Gronk, Kittle, Kelce etc.
