Who will be Lions 5 cuts by Tuesday

Thanks for the updates!

I read today they’re not even sure Cabinda will be ready Week 1.

Thanks!

Point is, in this topic, what happens to his roster spot?

Do they cut to 52 or adjust in the fly when he is ready for the active roster?

Depends on his prognosis. He’s currently on Active PUP (no roster exemption) and can be put on Reserve PUP as early as 08/23 and he won’t take up a roster spot (at either 80 or 53). Same with Jamo, Romeo, Paschal, Jacobs.

We will know a lot on the seriousness of the injuries on 08/23 . . . fully expect Jamo and Romeo, others will be telling.

Veteran possibilities to me are the following. I do not think any are locks to make it.

Dan Skipper - 50/50
J. Davis - Possibly but I think he stays.
D. Funchess or Griffin.
T. Kennedy
C. Reynolds
J. Cominsky - Good chance he sticks.
D. Blough - I think we keep him too.
W. Harris - Doubtful

The bodies at RB, LB, TE and OT are where I think the youth has the highest chance to push out a veteran and we could see a surprise cut or two

I’m not surprised a TE got cut but I thought Griffin had a better shot to stick than Funchess because of his blocking abilities.

Think C Reynolds sticks. He’s done too much when given a chance.

I think he likely sticks too but I do not think he’s a lock by any means. There’s a battle for those backup RB spots and I think Reynolds is in the mix for the last spot.

I think both he and Jackson stick. The position seems so important to what they want to do.

With Jefferson having 9 carries for only 19 yards in the 1st preseason game, it wasn’t a good showing for him in that competition.

He got to show something late last season. Over his current competition, outside of Jackson who just got here.

This week will show a lot I think.

I think from what I’ve read is Reynolds has separated him self from the others. He is a lock barring injury.

Yeah, that’s the truth. I’ve been pimping Jefferson since he got here, but there’s a reason I end lots of posts with ā€œBut I could be wrong.ā€

Since this is an ongoing problem lately I thought I’d remind everyone of the NO ALL CAPS rule from the code of conduct.

DO NOT POST IN ALL CAPS! Violation of any of these rules will result in posts being deleted

Please @coyote12 fix your thread title. Thanks.

Yeah, DC talked JJ up but he’s shown nothing. Unless he goes crazy these next two games, I fully expect him to be on the PS in case of an injury.

JJ will make the team. I highly expect him to be our RB3 by the BYE.

He’s the best runner out of the bunch of back ups.

I was big on JJ before the draft and remain high on him.

Yeah, we’ll see. At some point, he’s gotta show something with the pads on though.
CR is our 3rd RB and I think Godwin is RB #4 because of his Special Teams contributions. I don’t see JJ making the roster…but that’s just my 2 cents.

I just don’t see it. He wasn’t making any one miss last Friday. Falling down at the 1st sign of contact. Probably not a good sign that they kept giving him the ball in garbage time vs the 3rd stringers. Reynolds had a quick 3 carries for 13 yards and they shut him down for the day. That makes me think he’s making the team, I don’t even think he played in the 2nd half at all.

Maybe Jefferson will explode in week 2 and show us something. I hope so. The more competition the better.

I agree he has shown nothing so far , still time but the top 3 are set Godwin gives us also ST solid player . Will we keep 5 with Cabinda still not ready an could be on 6 week IR or use his spot for use of 4 TE.s
