Just seems like we’ve got the perfect mix of big uglies that can move, short game passing targets with yac skills and a QB with good ball placement skills when right. I’d really like to see if become a focal point for us.
I’m not an offense guru by any stretch, but this seems like a logical way to build on the team’s strengths, especially if you can run some deeper chunk stuff out of the same look.
I thought in the second half of the ravens game they did start doing more screens to swift, or short dump passes to get him in space and voila, the offense came to life finally.
Not sure why they didn’t do that in the first, I read or heard somewhere they were trying to exploit something they saw the defense doing. Well, if that is the case that was mission: failure!
They did for sure. Especially to Swifty. Personally I’d like to see more of it and more variety. Hock was great on TE screens at IOWA and Sewell was great at getting outside on WR screens at Oregon. They did try to set up one WR screen to Benson but he dropped it.
Many posters including myself have been saying all offseason Swift in the passing game is a real weapon. We saw it in the 2nd half last week, he should be getting 8-10 catches per game IMO, plus another 10 carries, 20 touches per game at least. Especially when you consider the young WR core, feed the ball to Swifty. Same goes for Hock.
Get your skill players in space and let the o-line smash some dudes. Football doesn’t always have to be super complicated. I watched the cowboys last night keep running the same few plays over and over again, the Eagles had no answer.
Raymond had a decent gain on a WR screen late in game. Better late than never I guess…
Yea that was a great call and execution.
2 backs, run WR or RB screen to the strong side w 2 WR and TE and the Riddick option route on the back side
I think screens work more when you’ve established a downfield passing attack. More likely the D ends pin their ears back, making the lob over their head more deadly.
Just a thought. Like, a maybe that’s why? 🤷
That’s a good point. But Baltimore was bringing heat preemptively. I really wish we would’ve went to our second half game-plan sooner. Oh well.
