Why it's OK to overreact to this game

The game morton called is still ahead of me on the leaderboard

Can you expand on that? This seems to be the general presumption. What specifically?

I do agree that the pre snap penalties were quite disappointing. But everyone seems to suggest we were just the proper play call away from success? I find this logic so difficult to understand.

1:) do we even know what the play call was?

2:) what was/were the check to(s). Did Goff take them? Was that the actual call you didn’t like.

3:) what run play would you have preferred we call when we’re getting no push and letting them play behind our line of scrimmage?

4:) or was it that we didn’t throw it enough or in a certain way? What are these passes that you wanted to see more of that wouldn’t have been impacted by our total inability to protect our statuesque QB?

I’m not giving Goff a pass here. I think this is his 2nd straight really bad game. He once again missed a lot of throws, held on to the ball too long multiple times, and lacks athleticism to make up for both.

It’s his play calling. He loves screens that go nowhere, or usually for negative plays. It feels like he runs the same 7 or 8 plays. No creativity. Awful play calls to get us to 3rd and long most drives, followed up by a play call on 3rd and long designed for well behind the line to gain.

My overreaction: Hutch was ass in the run game. Lost on cutbacks. Got some pressures. But, bad game by him too.

Don’t you think that perhaps we were calling so many screens is that we couldn’t pass protect for more than two seconds?

Again, what are these creative plays? How long do they take develop? Would you be afraid of calling them since it was a 50% chance lap that a Vikings defender would be in Jared’s lap right away.

I’ll go ahead and say it.

Why aren’t we up Hank’s butt? Why does he get a pass? His aspects of the offense were the worst IMO.

Should have went no huddle much earlier IMO

Bc of execution, right? Why are people ignoring that the players are the ones playing. They need to deliver on their assignments. We clearly did not with any real proficiency today. Institutional and cultural failure today. Not a schematic one.

Are you related to Morton? You could have some valid points, as it is on the players to execute, but they also need to be put in a position to succeed. He’s definitely not doing that.

I can appreciate you coming to Morton’s defense but if we fail in the run game running inside the tackles then we should be trying to get to the edge, try to work in space. Sure the IOL is limiting what we can have success with but it’s also the play callers job to get us into plays that account for that.

I’m not saying it’s all fault but so far the play calling looks vanilla and uninspired. I don’t see us maximizing our playmakers nearly enough.

It’s okay to overreact again because we played like ass. Everything was ass. Team was hung over. No more parties until March.

What about Fipp?

What do you expect goff to do with trash playcalling and trash oline play? Like seriously what do you expect? Sounds like you just another one who wants a mobile qb and when things don’t go your way you just bitch about it without any logic.

If the team wasnt an unheard of 10.5 point home favorite, it wouldnt feel as bad imo…I mean it would still feel bad, but when even Vegas who has alot of $ on the line gives a 10.5 point cushion, and you not only lose, but get dominated for he most part.. yikes

No. I’m just a fan of logic. Though I am aware that some may not be. I do live in this world of ours.

I think my point is pretty clear. It’s also somewhat irrefutable. My main point is you guys have to at least acknowledge how little we could possibly know. Our knowledge is so damn incomplete on this matter. So IMO it’s overwhelmingly a vibes thing with most. Which is fine. We’re all just fans. I just wanted to know if anybody had a specific game plan. @Wrath-SRT suggested tempo. Okay. I’m open minded here. I just think many are underrating the effects of our IOL getting passed and the impact that it would have on a game plan and play calling.

I think he’s the most to blame tbh. ST really let us down big time.

Wouldn’t the same be true for you as well? What could you possibly know? What part of the gameplay today were you a fan of?
