Are the Tigers stacked at SS in the minors? I have no idea.
A few mocks have that kid as a possible on other teams.

Slotted to Royals here.
They got top ss. 7th ranked and 41st ranked
I’m assuming young SS are talented enough to play many positions. Hitting is probably the priority the Tigers are most interested in finding.
Some can play others, but still i perfer load of pitching with 3 picks. As good as minor leauge players might be , need to add some young arms
Yup, always can use good young arms as well. BPA according to the scouts I would assume.
Im hoping players drop because of cost of them
I hate drafting pitchers early. They seem to have a higher bust rate and you are almost guaranteed that they will miss most of 2 years with arm injuries.
That being said, we are very top heavy in the farm system with hitters. Adding some quality pitchers early seems like a good idea.
This sounds crazy- with the later picks focus on HS pitchers who have had the TJ already.
It does seem that the Tigers might agree with you…
draft the position players early… and then can always trade prospects for healthy big league arms during the season.
For high school prospects… a good share of the great athletes with big arms play SS in high school due to the importance of the position at that level.
It would be interesting to see a comparison over time…
but I did find this from the 2018 draft.

Correct. The MLB diamond is filled with former shortstops bc that is where the most athletic kids play when they are young.
This right here. SS are considered the most elite athletes in baseball and essentially if you can play there, you can play a lot of other positions in baseball. They have to have a damn good arm and great agility. A lot of high profile MLB prospects play SS in high school.
Oops I should’ve read the thread. That dang husker beat me to it
Would you say that SS and 2B are interchangeable like CB and Safety?? I ask because I have heard that McGonicle(sp) might have a future at 2B even though he is playing SS now!
Normally you put the guys with weaker arms at 2nd base.
You want your SS to have a cannon.
Unless harris trading a ss, no need for two of them. Their ss for a reason. Of is way different.
Lots of players have played SS and outfield. Especially early in their career. Trea Turner immediately comes to mind, but there have been plenty more.
Javy has done it this year and has been just fine.
If you’re good at SS you can play 2B, but it can’t always be said the other way around. 2B not as much space and less arm needed so you could be great there, but trash at SS
