Willis Pro Day

Wow is all I can say I know he has some flaws but damn he has a hell of a arm.You add that to his athletic abilty and I honestly could see him in play at #2 not saying the Lions are the team making that pick but he is going to be on the way up after today.

I know not many will agree, but I’d jump on him at number 2. He’s got all the tools, smart kid. Just a year under Goff and to me He’s our future starter.

The kid definitely has an infectious personality, and his performance so far hasn’t hurt him at all. He is having some fun out there. That 65 yard pass to the end zone was money.

Thing is you might as well trade Goff and bring in a journeyman for one year vs having Goff the lame duck “leader”.

I think the league’s rule change to no defenders and the uniform change to shorts and T shirts will really help him.

None of it’s new though. Everything everyone loves about him we’ve known about for months. It’s a community-wide epidemic of “counting it twice.”

The cap hit would be ridiculous. Can’t do it in regards to his contact still 31 million against the cap. They won’t save much if what I read is correct. Might as well let him mentor Willis for the year.

For every Josh Allen, there’s a dozen QB’s with freak measurables who lack accuracy and sound decision-making that fail in the big league. It’s a no for me dawg.

If I’m taking a project QB it’s later in the draft, at a value.

I understand why that rep is always in the pro day script as it sort of shows the boundary of the arm talent (or lack there of of). But in games how often do you actually see that waggle/bootleg away from the arm side and then a sixty yard bomb. It’s an exceedingly rare throw and has very little impact on what is available to an OC.

This. Pro days are like football porn for scouts and coaches. They set the stage for those in attendance to fall love with a guy and leave them thinking “what if he’s the next…”, which more often than not leads to said player being drafted WAYYY earlier than they should’ve been, and a disappointed franchise.

Hey, JaMarcus Russell can throw the ball 70 yards on both kness. If that doesnt scream #1 overall pick I dont know what would.

We got some haters in the house lol.

I’ve saw tons of those scramble roll out plays in the playoffs throughout the years. Kyler Murray, mahomes, Allen, wilson, rodgers, some of the best QBs in the game can make this kind of throw and it shows he’s capable.

If we traded Goff we would have to cut several players to get under the cap.

So many people suggest trades with no clue to the dead cap inpact… it is 2nd grade math we are talking about

Not hating on Willis, but if you haven’t watched a QB pro day it’s quite comical. Everyone “Ooooo’s and Aahhh’s”, then the following week 3 QB’s have jumped into Kiper’s top 10

Let me preface this my saying we are not trading Goff even if we draft Willis.

You are incorrect though. We would actually save 650k if we release or trade him. Would be no need to cut anyone additonal.

As far as Malik’s pro day, he looked as everyone thought he would look. The guy is a tremendous talent and is going to be a very good QB in the NFL, IMO. I am beginning to like him more and more by the day, but whatever the Lions do I’ll support.

His ceiling is sky high. Even with his lack of competition I think that makes him super intriguing even at 2 as well. Let him sit and learn for a year under Goff who deserves to be the starter this year. Perhaps you can still find ways to use him and get him on the field.

Like in the 4th quarter after be completely blow teams out. :smirk:

I’m zen with taking Willis at 2 – IF Hutchinson is gone.

No team is as well-positioned to let Willis find his way in the NFL as the Lions.

I’m only OK with Willis IF Holmes genuinely thinks he is the guy to lead this team to the playoffs.

If not, get the best guy available.

I’m seeing a ton of “great measurables and rocket arm” takes that ignore inconsistencies, and that reminds me a ton of Jamarcus Russell takes before that draft.
