WooHoo! Rookie Minicamp!

I wanna be like Oprah and give everyone a Cadillac. Now that I’ve established my compassion and spirit of generosity: Who is going to play their way off the team in rookie minicamp and why? :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face:

I vote Teslaa because the Lions org will realize they over drafted him and decided they need to listen to the draft “experts” instead

We’re going to have some tough cuts this year. Especially along the IOL and the IDL.

I’m not expecting any shockers but guys like BroMart might have a hard time finding a roster spot.

Could we give up on recent picks Wingo, and Sorsdal? It’s definitely possible with the trenches crowded with prospects all fighting for the last few roster spots.

Too soon for a Wingo cut IMO but Sorsdal is on the bubble and could be a cut.

Spot on, will be a fun offseason, can’t wait has to be around 10-12 weeks for camp to open.

What’s made things easier this short offseason is the improvement of the other teams in Detroit. Making a resurgence

Can’t wait to see these guys, offseason has flown by…

I do think both Sorsdal and BroMart get cut. Sorsdal has for sure the tougher road, because our OL is now very deep. I think they’ve tried to make it work with him at a couple of positions, but there hasn’t been any growth to speak of.

BroMart for sure is a developmental issue. I still get what they saw with the pick, they saw a man mountain that they thought could be a diamond in the rough if they worked out his rough sides and got him some real NFL quality coaching. Unfortunately, it hasn’t taken. BroMart is the “looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane” example. They always knew he played tall and needed to work on his leverage, but that coaching hasn’t taken and when he did have to play, he gets completely dominated by smaller guys. When you are that big, you should be able to at minimum hold your ground. With proper coaching on leverage and technique, you can learn to exert your power and push forward. BroMart is the opposite though. Not only does he still play too tall, he can’t anchor himself and gets driven backwards.

I’ve often wondered if a lot of it is just temperment. Some bigger guys are physical beasts, but they are softies at heart. Usually they’ve spent their whole lives bigger than people around him and have to take it easy so they don’t hurt people. Obviously the Lions liked him and thought they could mold him into an interior monster but sometimes things just don’t pan out. When the Lions interviewed Deone Walker, I knew that spelled trouble for BroMart. Those guys are the same player, except Walker performed against SEC talent. Then with the Lions taking Williams, who is much more the prototypical size and height for your interior anchor, I figured that Williams was going to help offset the loss of McNeil, second once McNeil is back, allow the Lions to move on from DJ Reader after the season and third allow the Lions to play both Williams and McNeil together as a form a beast of an interior line.

Will Tyleik fit into a Minicamp?

Wingo is going to be a weapon IMO. A niche one, but a weapon nonetheless.

Observations from the first day. As we expected, Ratledge already taking reps at center.

Very encouraging rookie year for a 6th rounder. Played a couple hundred snaps and held his own.

If Brad already has his future Ragnow in the fold, he may just have his next generation OL already built.

Manu/Mahogany/Ratledge/Frazier/Sewell or a variation thereof.

All 24 years old or younger. Yes Sewell is still 24. Hard to believe.

Never realized that UH had alternate jerseys with Oilers colors. Well, maybe I remember reading something about it, but I never actually put eyes on them before. Beautious!

They are awesome. I’ve never heard of anyone who didn’t love those old Oilers unis or the color scheme, can’t believe more teams don’t use it. The Texans’ blue is so dark it looks black. I always think I’m watching the Falcons on TV.
