I saw a video of Shadeur yesterday and the kid says the right things, like how this is God’s plan for him and how he just needs a chance to prove himself…but then he’s got a big ass chain on his neck saying “Legendary” and ends the interview saying “Legendary”. And yes, it’s all on Deion pumping his kids to think they are something they are not.
Honestly, I think teams are shying away from Shadeur because of the circus he’s going to bring with him. (his dad)
I LOVE that he built a custom “Draft Watch Room” for them all with shelves holding all the team caps so he could grab the cap of the team that drafted him.
In hindsight staying home with mommy and daddy was the smartest thing the kid had done in his life. Can you imagine the optics of him in the Green Room getting passed over time and time again for 3 rounds
I wonder if the Rams spend a fourth on Sanders. They have two vets in Stafford and Jimmy G, and a QB-mind in McVay. And, of course, they have a need for a young quarterback.
This is all assuming the kid has been at all humbled by this fall. I hope he has been. If not, it’s a fourth rounder, so it’s also not the end of the world.
What’s crazy is … now I’m beginning to wonder if teams even view him as a fourth round talent.
He’s very Brock Purdyish to me. Sure he had a better college career than Brock. And he’s taller and looks the part. But then I think Purdy has a substantially better feel of the pocket and pocket awareness and scramble ability. So it really just comes down to a name and expectations. And the NFL doesn’t care.
The thing is…we are now in the “your gonna hold a clipboard for a couple seasons and we will make you an NFL QB” territory.
And you know the Sanders clan is having none of that…and the teams KNOW IT
It is gonna be interesting to see if the Sanders Circus figures out that they need to convince a team that he is willing to earn his shot not just be given the helm.
Never been a fan of Sanders nor his kid. Far too much entitlement and far too little humility. I have zero empathy for them.
If I were a GM/Coach considering Sanders - I’d call and set the behavioral and role expectations, and give him the opportunity to respond with humility and commitment. If he and/or his family entourage cannot - a big message would then to draft someone else.
Whether they have the capacity to learn, is an entirely different question and potentially why Sanders is dropping.
Interesting take. Can’t say I disagree. Getting drafted in the 4th is probably not enough to change his mentality or his father’s. That brainwashing runs deep.
But I agree. 4th round means you aren’t starting barring injury.
Anybody here remember when we got Kellen Moore and all the Boise fan boys came here and were saying the best thing that could happen was Matt Stafford getting hurt so that the Lions would have to give Kellen Moore a chance?
Multiply that by 1,000,000 for whatever team takes Sanders. Prime will be in the media and social media non-stop saying how stupid the organization is for not making Shadeur the starter. Every loss the team has, every INT the starter throws…the clamor to start Sanders no matter what he is or isn’t showing on the practice field and in the team rooms, will be deafening. Prime will be angling for the coaches job from minute 1 in order to install Shadeur as starting QB
Unless you think Sanders was good enough to start Day 1, you don’t take him because that is what you will be dealing with NONSTOP if you take Shadeur and he is not the starter. And he would most likely be feeding the frenzy himself as well.
I am now convinced Sanders goes undrafted today as well and it is all due to the Sanders Circus created by Deion
Is this the wake up call Shadeur needs? Once he gets drafted he needs to tell his dad to stay off TV and let him be his own man and earn his own way. Brady was drafted in the 6th. Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant.
