5th for ZDarius seems fair
6th is a steal for us
4th is overpaying but sometimes you gotta overpay
Call me crazy but with 2 open roster spots. I think I trade for 2 guys and send out lower draft picks.
I’d go after Smith and Uche
Calais Campbell step 1
But yes Zadarius is next
From all I am reading into this and what Lombardi said… I think if they lose he is going to be traded to us on Tuesday next week. That is a Brad Holmes move to me. I also think that allows you to make more moves also.
I would love to add Calais.
And he has repeatedly stated that he’s love to win a SB before he retires.
Calais Campbell is everything we want Pascal & Cominsky & Levi to be.
A priority to me.
Florida has a few options for us but he should be 1st and not very expensive he’s up there in age a 1 year rental
Unreal how good that old fucker still is…i wanted to add him 5 years ago…
We also know Coach Campbell loves him.
Old people matter too.
Ya know?
@Bols I love you bud… Not an old person joke. Coach Campbell has talked about how much he loves Calais Campbell as recently as 2023…
But… As my tag team partner…rest bud…rest.
Plus if he bats down a ball I get to post, “Paw-de-Calais” in the game thread.
Za’Darius has less than $1 million in base salary left to be paid in 2024…. so that may help his trade value as well.
While i would love Crosby even for significant beans, this one (i.e. Z. Smith) has Brad written all over it.
Dan Campbell loved Jack Campbell and also loves Calais Campbell? Hmmmmm.
My guess is they think a 7th from us is going to be too late and want to see if they can squeeze something higher from us.
Falcons are also interested in Z Smith
Sure, but Cleveland didn’t just eat 15m to get there which IMO differentiates the two situations and their value expectations. Ultimately it depends on who else would be interested I suppose.
They gave ZaDarius a $10.79 million SB in March 2024.
The real motivation to trade him is the 3rd day of the 2025 league year, which is when an additional $7 million (roster & option bonuses) becom guaranteed for next year.
I think the “value” of the trade comp will simply cone down to how many teams are interested.
Well the demand side will always be paramount.
It was a $19m SB for Cooper. Given the void years if Smith is traded tomorrow it looks like the Browns eat 6ish M in future Salary Cap void years from this years contract and another 4.5ish m from last years contract. But as you stated given the option bonus he may have always been viewed as a guy that they would cut especially if they are going full rebuild as it seems.
With Cooper it’s almost $15m in void year $ that they’re eating. And they almost certainly would have gotten a comp pick from him leaving depending on how they otherwise approached free agency next year.
It just seems the financial situation with Smith would make the Browns less insistent on a certain level of return. And he’s an older, less talented player.
A 5th seems like the sweet spot to me.
