This is totally true, Trey is still there maybe there waiting on something there IDK. Alot of stuff can still happen but FAs help availability is sliming down fast.
Who plays Leviās 650 snaps ?
Probably divided up by healthy players? We sure seemed fine when he only had 172 snaps in 2023 and won two playoff games. Iām not going to get into this weird argument where Levi is some amazing talent who canāt be replaced in FA or the draft. Heās talented, would love to have him back. If heās not, the Lions will still be a competitive team in 2025.
This is the guy who was doing pass blocking sets in the hospital while his wife was in labor. My guess is if he decides to come back he will be all in.
Patrick and Onwuzurike were always going to take some time because of physicals, Iād think. Who knows about Z? His value is high after playing between 2 elite players. Does he go for the M-O-N-E-Y or a ring or life of leisure?
That because you canāt , 4 guys left out there that have a positive grade in both run and pass. Campbell Levi and Low and be hold Smith and Bosa. On top of all that you wonāt start the season with Mac.
Right on Davicus.
DT is THE priority now that CB Reed is signed.
We can survive without Zeitler if necessary. Mahogany looks like a starter to me.
Reader and ? is the issue at DT. Alim is likely out a good stretch and Wingo is also out. Re-signing Adams is a deep depth move. We can easily look at a veteran AND a rookie at this point.
Edge is the 2nd concern. Marcus back on a cheap one year deal still leaves us lacking bodies at de. Hutch, Paschal, Marcus and ? isa concern. Muhammad back would help. A top rookie would help too. Big gamble there.
It is easy to game out a rookie DE and DT but that isnāt enough. We need that AND another body.
That is why Levi is important here. He can play for Alim and he can flex out if necessary.
With Hargrove gone to Vikes, Allen to Vikes and Solomon Thomas to the Cowboys it looks like Levi is next. His value should be roughly known now.
I expect a Levi deal announced soon, maybe with another team.
Lions Re-Sign DT Myles Adams on Day 2 of Free Agency
Detroit Free Press ā Dave Birkett is reporting that the Lions have re-signed restricted free agent defensive tackle Myles Adams to a one-year contract. The 27-year-old run stopper made his way to the Motor City when he was signed off the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in November.
After joining the Lions, Adams ended up dressing for four regular-season appearances. He made an immediate impact when he debuted in Week 14ās 34-31 win over the Green Bay Packers, recording three tackles while tallying some impressive run defense (78.7) and tackling (70.2) grades on Pro Football Focus.
Adams didnāt come close to matching that performance again, though, and snap share continued to be erratic. He struggled to carve out a consistent role for himself on defense, leaving time to tell how the Lions will deploy him moving forward ā especially after Kelvin Sheppardās promotion to defensive coordinator .
The Lions had several issues that needed addressing after their early playoff exit, which is why re-signing Adams this early is disappointing. As important as depth is for a deep playoff run, the former Rice Owl isnāt exactly the type of player who moves the needle closer to a potential Super Bowl win.
OverTheCap lists Detroit as having over $52.6 million in cap space to play with, so there isnāt an excuse not to be spending. Hopefully, GM Holmes will wake up and bring in some reinforcements because competing in the NFC will only be harder without extra help.
Zeitler is a guy I want back. Shouldnāt be too expensive and played great beside Sewell. Gives us more flexibility in the draft as well.
Laken Tomlinson just signed for under $5 million. Zeitler is better overall but that is a good gauge.
Funny fact.
Laken Tomlinson was my draft crush the year he came out. Hated the way his career ended here, but at least he made it to the Superbowl with the Niners.
Actually had a pretty good career once he left the Lions. Kyle Van Noy too.
Slower day than I expected. LOTS of good players left. Lots of Lions left:
Levi, Zeitler, Z. Smith and Tim Patrick all out there still.
Likely some players will need to lower their prices?
I feel like Holmes has made some offers but heās letting them test free agency to see whatās out there. If the big money isnāt there, back to Detroit.
That had to be it, right? Playing the waiting game.
wise words Grasshopper
