Hence why i say the teams eligible needs to be cut down from 136 teams to something like 48-60. That keeps more of the top talent on fewer teams. Making competition more level.
That and have set scheduling. You have a 12 game schedule and 10 of those are against those top 48. Yea much harder of a schedule vs what we have now. Cool Oregon is undefeated. But power rank out all 132 schools. They might have played 4 top 50 teams all year.
Excluding the title game.
6 - Illinois
10 - Boise
21 - Illinois
35 - Michigan
Thats it. The other 8 games Oregon played are trash.
Not crazy about conference realignment and NIL/transfer portal but the 12 team playoff is the best thing to ever happen to college football. It’s still flawed but certainly better than the coalition/shared championships then BCS based on computer ratings then 4 team college football playoff.
I mean, how can a college football fan not be excited about the 4 games coming up the next 2 days at home sites? This is great IMO.
This is an interesting idea to explore. It makes a better product for the average detached fan, but it really freezes out fans/alumni (attached fans) of the schools hurt by it.
Probably not, but it’s more about concept than about getting teams perfectly lined up. Although I did try to get teams lined up as much as possible it’s pretty darn hard to get them all lined up without some odd ball slotting needed to fill things in.
