13 best cornerbacks in 2024 NFL Draft, ranked

Stiggers will end up being one of the best ten CBs in this draft.

He’s one of my draft crushes, would love to grab him in the 3rd

I wouldn’t bet against it. Both he and Willie Drew could be among the top 10 CBs from this draft in 3 years. Don’t tell anyone, but both are in my unpublished current Den Mock Draft. It’s a secret. I reserve the right to change my mind, or simply forget because I’m a senior, ya know. :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

You are the Willie Drew truther

I believe in him far more than Dane does.

On this note as well:

First round grades!

Some Kentucky fans absolutely hate his tackling :man_shrugging:

He has that Ernie Sims fly in and miss a lot on his tape, dude needs to calm down. Still you’d rather have that to fix than the opposite.

My biggest concerns with him are 1) can he hold up outside, and 2) I think he’s much better in zone. Kinda reminds me of DeJean in that way, in a much smaller, slightly slower package.

But I see him comped to McDuffie a lot, and man if he can be that he’s worth a top ten pick.

Exactly. That’s the behavior that was referenced. It wasn’t like he didn’t like contact. Just way too out of control at times. Sounded a bit like the way Kerby can get.

But it does sound like his issues in both the pass and run game may mostly be fixable. Sounds like track took a ton of his time in HS as well so there’s an explanation for a lack of refinement perhaps.

The issue with these consensus articles is they aren’t team specific.
I think there are only three 1st rd CB’s for Brad.
Q. Mithchell
T. Arnold
C. DeJean
DeJean has grown on me. I didn’t like his lack of demonstrated ability to play high level M2M coverage (a key responsibility in the AG scheme) for a 1st rd selection.
But I think he is a Brad & DC ā€œfootball playerā€. He would also be a utility piece for AG as I think he could play all 5 position in the secondary at a high level (unlike Harris).
I think Brad may even trade up for one of the three if they fall within range.
Obviously there is some interest in Kool-Aid or they wouldn’t be meeting with him on multiple occasions. But I think it may be a trade back option from #29, or trade up option from #61.

For sure Brad’s gonna have his guys he likes more than others, figuring out which one is which is always the task.

Like, it’s possible - if we’re really switching to heavy press-man - that Arnold’s the only one he likes in the 1st. He’s got the football character/work ethic in spades, and he’d be a glove fit for that scheme. DeJean and Mitchell on the other hand require more projecting into press-man.

Not saying that’s true, just offering it up as a possibility. Brad seems to be extremely choosy when it comes to CB (some think to his detriment). Unless he’s got some injury we don’t know about I struggle to find an avenue where Arnold isn’t high on our board, but everyone else has a potential knock that could move them down the board.

I believe Q. Mitchell has answered the knocks against him (competition, and press M2M coverage) at the Senior Bowl. In addition, Mitchell’s superior athletic ability would seem to even the playing field to Arnold’s better Alabama pedigree.
Also, drafting DeJean would eliminate the need for Holmes to have to draft a Safety. DeJean could compete to start at outside CB while also backing up any of the secondary. Also, succession planning in case they are not able to retain Iffy after this season. DeJean or Branch can move to Safety with Robertson able to cover the slot or outside.
That’s why I think if any of the 3 falls to #20 it would be a great place to trade up to get in front of CB needy teams Miami, Philly, Dallas, Tampa, and Buffalo. That move would likely only cost a pick swap (#73 for #98) and 2025 3rd rd pick.

Both options certainly possible as well. We’ll see.

I agree on Mitchell answering the M2M questions at the Senior Bowl (personally he’s my CB1 and has been since before then, so I really like him), but it’s inarguably a small sample size.

DeJean’s versatility has always been his best calling card, you’ll get no dispute from me, I’m just playing devil’s advocate for why we may look a different direction.

In truth, the most likely answer on why we might pass is that he’s fallen in love with someone else at a different position. If he’s smitten with Latu or Fautanu or Thomas, for example.

The good thing is I like Latu, Fautanu, and Thomas as well!
I am confident Brad will get a very good player at #29 or if he trades up or down.

I really like McKinstry. He’s well-regarded for his ability to play man coverage, shadowing elite receivers with a rare blend of size, speed, and physicality.
