I loved seeing Trevor and Rake out there. Sending a message to the team.

White being inactive. I wouldn’t be surprised he gets released soon. Veteran who doesn’t play special teams. He won’t be happy being inactive on gameday.

Might as well play the younger players at least they might improve.

I thought that Trevor played quite well. But Jack, Derrick and Trevor out there at the same time is three big ass LBers. Not show that is all that well suited for today’s game.

What are the weaknesses of these players?

Nowaske has always looked good running downhill. Looks athletic for his size. If he is assignment sound, what’s the problem? Can he not cover TEs? Will teams start to pick on him if he is logging too many snaps?

For Rakestraw, he’s undersized. He was in against the Jets on only passing downs, so it feels like they don’t trust his run defense? Seems like he may be the best pure man-man cover corner in the DB room?

The 2024 draft class has been bashed endlessly - and for good reason.

But yesterday’s game reminds me that 4 of the 6 picks remain with the team, and still have a chance to redeem the draft class.

3 of the 4 - Mahogs, Vaki and Rake - played very well and will have lots of opportunity to contribute more going forward.

Wingo… we’ll see at some point.

Btw - Rake gave up 1 completion on 4 passes thrown his way.

HALF of Geno’s incompletions (31-37) came w/Rake (23 snaps) in coverage.

That’s cray-cray.

If Rake can keep playing like this and not have what I dare not even mention happen again, the 2024 draft becomes much less of a dumpster fire IMO.

if, If, IF…

  1. Mahogs becomes a solid, above-average left guard who can stay healthy
  2. Rake becomes a solid, above-average CB who can stay healthy
  3. Vaki becomes a solid, average RB2 who poses a credible threat as a runner and receiver, is above average in passpro, well above average on ST, and can stay healthy

That’s not remotely a dumpster fire. A lot of IFs, but …

It can stop the run… But those 3 backers on the field together with our injured secondary is like taking candy from a baby for Quarterbacks. If anything the Jets helped us by running the ball as much as they did.
