Before that draft, I was against drafting any of the “little guys.” R. Moore, Eskridge, and Atwell have performed well below their draft status.

In contrast, the bigger guys, Palmer and Collins, have performed well above their relative draft status.

Toney, Rodgers, and Fitzpatrick are all members of the Dolly Parton club–all busts.

Saint is obviously the best value.

And they could have had Sewell.

That whole draft was insane. St. Brown and Sewell will be wearing gold jackets one day. Meanwhile Alim is a beast. Levi and Barnes are starters. Iffy is a starter. And even Jemar Jefferson is playing these days. Brad Holmes masterclass. 4 years later and all still Lions. Very rare in the nfl.

What about Sewell? Doesn’t he have a 100% catch rate?

I think there is a scenario in which the 2021-2023 draft classes end up having ten guys who are first team All Pro at least once in their careers. Crazy run.

I think outcomes for the 2024 draft are still all over the board.

If that draft is done over Sewell and ARSB are both gone before the lions would of picked

Agreed… His drafts are so freaken good I can’t even choose a favorite one.

2021 - Sewell, St. Brown, Alim
2022 - Hutch, Jamo, Kerby
2023 - Branch, Gibbs, Campbell, LaPorta

Those 10 guys are all about to hit the jackpot! Some already have.

2024 is still tbd…

Let Holmes cook

I feel quite good about Arnold being an impactful starter. I’m fairly concerned about Ennis but that is mostly from a durability POV. I’m fairly confident about all of Mahogany, Wingo and Vaki over performing their draft slots to varying degrees.

The difference between and okay class and a plus to plus-plus class is whether or not Manu hits and to what extent.

My perception of Manu is that while he’s extremely athletic on paper, it didn’t translate on the field. In the preseason, he played “high” and looked like a poor man’s Dan Skipper.

Maybe I’m wrong. Pretty small sample size to work with.

I thought his improvement was noticeable as the preseason went on.

To be honest the track recent track record of big athletic guys that were still figuring out what they are doing is pretty good. Mailata didn’t hit until year three and is the most obvious comp given body type, athletic traits and background. Bernard Raihman and Spencer Brown was further along but still not ready.

I get that agility is a concern but Orlando Brown Jr. has proven that a large, brick sh!t house with a huge reach can be a viable OT and Manu is overall considerably more athletic.
